Great times at Bandi yesterday

Bandi is Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Co. for non-locals. See my avatar.

There were five SRT8 Jeeps and two SRT8 300's yesterday. We're slowly taking over the place... ;)

Met two new SRT8 Jeep guys, Jamal and Russ. Told them both to checkout this site as it seems to be where the mountain guys hang. Both great guys and we had a lot of fun.

I was experimenting, like the past two weeks. The earlier days were CMR shootouts as I've got tunes from three different sources. Unfortunately it appears I can't attach images here. :( You can see the results at another site that remains nameless, but makes some see red. Yesterday I ran three different tunes as well, but all from Da Toona. The real experimenting was with a mix of pump and race gas. Last week I added a few gallons of Sunoco 104 and the buggy came alive! Same story this week, but with a higher ratio of the race gas. Set a new corrected PB of 12.36 @ 110.47, and that was with a DA of 9449 and 84 degrees.

If you haven't tried it yet, you should try race gas. However all race gas is not equal. I tried Sunoco 100 a few weeks back and didn't notice any difference. Also note the octane isn't important. It's the extra oxygen content this gas contains, and we all know the more oxygen, the more horsepower. I hope to try some VP 109 if I can find it as it has the highest oxygen content. However I'm not sure the state of Colorado allows it to be sold.

For all the locals, hope to see you at the track. I'm usually there every Wed for the T&T's. It's sponsored by the Colorado State Patrol and it's a hoot. I've raced three cops out there, two yesterday. I launch, turn around, and wave bye bye to them. ;) They make a show of it by running down the track with their lights flashing.

Big fun!

Thanks Rob! Yeah it was like an incinerator without any breeze. Wish I could wear shorts and slaps, but they say that's a no no. I think the corrections bother some people. Mostly those at sea level and/or with negative DA. ;) But really everyone should correct all the time. Otherwise you're not really comparing apples to apples. Maybe one day I'll make it to a lower track and prove the corrections don't lie...

Thanks Mike! Still haven't caught you yet, but I'm trying. :D Yeah Jamal has the blue with the Fort Carson sticker in the window. I have a feeling he'll be out there next week too... Hope to see you!

Damn Wink, those corrected are INSANE!!!! Everytime I correct here it makes me slower! So all my times are the real deal. Id love to rip off an actual 12.34, now that would be a hoot!

Wade (CentralTexasHemi) has run that, and without power adders. So it's doable.

As to corrections, Jim383 has proven time and again how accurate ModDepot's calculators are. That guy can call ETs that're spot on over and over! It's uncanny, and this is the only one he'll use. So it's the only one I use.

Unfortunately I have to use corrected times as I'm at what the NHRA calls an altitude track. In fact the highest in the country. I doubt Bandi could attract nationals if corrections didn't exist. But the guys down lower usually post the actual times. For example, I beat Jim's and Wade's posted PB's yesterday. But their corrected times still beat me. But I'm catching up! ;)

Thanks Omar! Yeah it's funny, but my times were better this week with about 10 degrees higher temps. Of course the race gas probably had the most to do with it. The only ones that always do good up here are those with F/I or nitrous. There's a cat up here with a 5.9 Limited. He installed a Vortec on it and he was running actual 12.5's two weeks ago. He put a Moroso cooler on it and was running 12.3's yesterday. The thing is a total sleeper. Looks like any GC you'd see driving down the road, but he can flat out smoke most anything he encounters. However his transfer case isn't gonna hold up to that power much longer. It's stock.

Who knows? A blower and a shot of nitrous, and you're rocket man. You should see these imports out here with similar setups. The Jeep kills them thru about the 1/8 or further. Then at the last second they come blowing past me like I'm sitting still. Talk about frustrating...
