FIRST Oil Change

So this thread is for owners to post their Oil/service history. Please put the following 3 things down at minimum:

1) Oil type used (Brand, consistency, price)
2) Length b/t oil changes
3) Experience/testimonials

Also, should I have the oil change performed at the dealer? Any benefit? What does everyone typically do for their oil change...if you do not use the Dealer please provide insight/rationale.

Re: FIRST Oil Change

2006 WK 5.7L

1) Mobil 1 5w20 - Mobil 1 filter
2) 6,000 mile intervals
3) Great so far!

I prefer to do it myself. This way you can allow the oil to drain for the necessary amount of time. Your typical shop won't allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes while the oil drains. I also put a cap full of fresh oil through, let it drain, and then proceed to complete the change.

Re: FIRST Oil Change

I think the benifit of having it done at the dealer is that
1 it will help keep chrysler alive
2 it adds to your service history(which is good when you go to sell your jeep)

1. Mobile Clean 5000 10W40 K&N Oil Filter (I'm changing to Mobile 1 next oil change or Royal Purple)
2. 2,500 miles
3. Maybe air filter if dirty.

ATTN MODS:

It would be nice if you could just delete the off-topic posts in this thread. They hold no value in this thread or elsewhere and I'm sure the OP will not mind.

Clean this shit up! :D :p

Thanks!

Re: FIRST Oil Change

I do our Jeeps myself.

'06 WK/Hemi:
MOBIL1 5W-20
Mopar #05281090 oil filter
Every 6,000 miles

'04 WJ/4.0L
MOBIL1 10W-30
Mopar #05281090 oil filter
Every 6,000 miles

BTW I bought a couple cases of Mopar oil filters cheap when we had 4 Jeeps in the family.
