Another HID thread by me

Lets just say that I have a headlight that doesn't have projectors in it. Would adding 6000K have just as much glare as 8000K? In other words, will I be blinding on coming drivers more with 6000K HIDs vs the 8000K or just the same?

i think it'll be the same.

I'm guessing you would be blinding driver's more with 6000k because of it's Lumens. 8000k is more blue, but you would be blinding them with more Blue right than white? 8000k isnt brighter than 6000k though so I geuss more of 6000k you would be blinding other drivers. But just aim the correctly so you won't blind them.

^^^

I always thought that the white light would blind more than than blue.

Do yoiu aim lights with hids the same as normal lights?

For my dads 2003 Mercedes ML he didn't get the Xenon Headlights it had the Halogen Bulbs in it with the Project Headlights (Stock). One of his bulbs went out 3 weeks ago and I decided to purchase 5000k HID's for his ML. When I fired them up, they were all over the place and I had to re-aim them. It took me 3 times to get them correctly aimed. Like the right headlight was way up high! We never replaced or aimed the headlight before. So after the 3rd time I got it right and they look superb!

Try and aim them enough so you could see the road and enough that you won't blind anyone. I had my dad drive on the other side of the road to see if his headlights were blinding me.

Im just gunna say, 8000K looks very ricerish, I used to have two kits with them. i now went to 6500K and i like it way better!

glare will be the same, less of a chance of being ticketed with 6000k

I'm not worried about being ticketed. Just worried about glare. I would prefer 6500K.

Technically speaking the lower the Kelvin temp, the more light output you have. On that basis, 6000K would have more glare than 8000K. Either way, HIDs in halogen housings are going to scatter light. I just installed an HID kit in my '08 Laredo and I am not completely pleased. I have not been "brighted" by oncoming drivers yet, but I know they are glaring. Projectors, either a retrofit or OEM housings, are on my to do list. I will not be satisfied until I have a wicked sharp cutoff!

Re: Another HID thread by me

i actually put a 5000k kit in my WK with the original halogen housings and i felt like such an asshole driving like that. they blind the hell out of everyone and the light scatted so much that i could see the tops of trees on the side of the highway. i took them out less than a week later (because of the scatter and they were also junk and flickered) i just got OEM projectors and installed 6000k bulbs. they do not scatter at all because of the lens. all light is put on the road and doesnt bother other drivers at all. i wouldnt do it in a halogen housing, but that is just me. go with 6000k either way.

6000k actually has more output than 8000k. On that note, I would say 6000k would have more glare than 8000k.

Glare is glare without projector headlights.

go with 6500K, end of story :)
