Calling all 09/10 Jeep owners

My libby only need to change the oil at 6K miles instead of 3K. Is this a new thing or does the dealership just put fully syn oil in it to make it last long? There is no longer a 30K mile service. The only thing I have to do at 30K is change the spark plugs. The trans have to be changed at 120K miles, Coolant is good for 102K miles and the transfer case and front/rear axle oil is good for the life of the car. This is all new to me since my Mom at a 2007 Dodge Nitro which is the same as the Liberty and she had to change her oil at 3K miles and had the normal 30K mile service. I'm not really complaining since I was already thinking that I would have to spend a shit load of money when my car crosses 30K. I think that I"m still going to get all the fluids changed out at 100K miles just to be on the save side.

AND

The oil life monitor. What sets it off? Bad oil or miles on the car or both?

Thanks.

If I remember correctly. Doesn't the Nitro have a bit of a different Engine? Isn't it a 4.0L V6? Just do the oil change every 3,000 Miles. It's better.

The nitro has both the 3.7 and the 4.0 (and for some ungodly reason the KK don't). Both had to do oil changes at 3000 miles with the 3.7L having to have its axle oil changed at 16K (I think) and the Nitro at 30K.
