Water Damage by Hurricane Alex

We finnaly got the power turned backed on! Ok so I decided to leave my WJ outside the garage to keep the challenger and my moms GL inside, I had heard in the news that the hurricane had moved alittle south from us so I thought it wasent gonna be that bad, I was wrong!! Here in Mexico the storm drains don't function as well as the do in the US, and idk if any of you all have been in Mexico while it was raining but it gets flooded Fast!! Long story short...the water got up to about mid door level on both my WJ and my dads Denali...my question is what's the best way to get the most water out from the carpets and also how can I assure that it doesn't smell like a wet towel inside?? I've tried to vacuum some of the water out but it's still very damp on both my WJ and my dads truck.

Its a huge job and is usually an instant total on flood cars here in the states.

You have to strip EVERYTHING out of the cabin. Disinfect everything with a bleach and soap mix. Most the time the carpet and padding will have to be replaced as the odor and water smell will not come out of it. Also run an ozone generator and uv light to kill germs.

sorry dude, mother nature is a real **** sometimes. Least you and your family are safe.

use a carpet washing vacuum? id just use an actual carpet washer to suck up all the excess water, then clean them and let air dry

Thanks man, well it might not be as bad as you may imagine, it's basically just the carpets that at wet. the seats, door panels, electronics, ect...weren't affected and have no water in them. I Feel bad for my dad cuz his trucks a 2009 and my wj is 2002 and I was about to sell it anyways because I don't use it anymore since I bought the Challenger SRT8. thanks for your input

that's exactly what I'm using, we have a rug doctor carpet washer thing but the suction isn't enough to get it dry enough :/ I might take some shamwow's to it LoLoLoL

def take that carpet out as you will get mold underneath it. disconnect battery and let the rest of the inside air dry or run some fans if at all possible.

you could try an air dry of the carpet, by like hanging it up. then use your rug doctor before you put it back in.
