Picked up some new tires...

Well, with 15,300 miles on the Jeep I still had plenty of tread left on my stock RSAs......but I was getting unhappy with the traction.

I started to easily spin and have the rear slide out/drift on turns when it was wet out under light throttle and hydroplaned a few times within the last two weeks during heavy rainfalls. Also, they started to slide a little bit easier under very aggressive cornering when dry.

Of course there was the whole run-flat vs. non run-flat tire decision that I had to make and started to do some research. Based on everything I read and heard and how I drive my Jeep I decided that the Vredestein Ultrac SUV Sessanta tires were best for my application. I plan on picking up a plug/compressor kit and also a spare tire setup.

I ordered the tires on Monday at my local tire store and they came in on Tuesday. I've been busy with work so I finally had some time to leave my Jeep there earlier today. Even with my painted wheels, not a single scratch on them during the tire change :D

Limited miles on them since I picked it up but you can definitely notice the better ride quality and on the few corners I took at a higher than "normal" (whatever that is) rate of speed they grip very nicely. Should be easier on the suspension, ball joints, etc.. as there is actually some give to the tire right now. Right now I'm at 42-43psi cold front and 39-40psi cold rear, I'll evaluate it over the next couple of weeks and adjust if needed.

Now, these are a summer ultra high performance tire so if I were to use my Jeep as a daily driver here in the winter I would definitely get a winter tire setup. But, since I have a 4x4 Tacoma and a couple of 4x4 F-350s I don't really need to drive my Jeep in the snow. If that changes I will pick up a set of winter tires. Ironically, I've heard that the Vredestein winter tires are also very good so I would probably go with that.

Enough typing.....here's a few pics.
Fronts are 275/40ZR20
Rears are 315/35ZR20:

i always liked the way the tread on the V-Reds looked. It is aggresive to say the least.

Best of Luck with them Dan.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I've very happy with the tires so far, even though I don't have many miles on them. I took a few corners in the same fashion and would for sure result in some sliding and tire spin with the Goodyears and the Vredesteins just stuck and the Jeep pulled right through the corner.

Very interested to try them in the first rain storm we get....especially heavy rain that had been making me hydroplane with the Goodyears.

I also picked this up earlier at the autoparts to keep in the Jeep just in case.......most likely getting a black 20x9 replica to put a tire on for a spare as well.

Has some nice velcro on the back of the case that allowed me to stick it to the back of the rear seats......we'll see how well it holds under my driving, LOL. Otherwise I'll have to secure it in another fashion.

Don't worry....I don't plan on using the slime. I just liked the case with the compressor and plug kit, valve tool, valve cores all in one.

Sick tires man! I always loved them, just mad they arent all seasons. Ill have to see what other all season tire they offer though, Vreds are just great imo! Anyway, you just got that kit for the compressor? How will you plug the hole, or were you kidding? haha And when you say spare is that just so you can swap it out w/o plugging the other tire or what? cause it wont help on the road being as there's nowhere to put it lol. Just curious as im looking for a solution myself without going to runflats haha
