Gears and/or Tuner

The WK with 3.07 gears runs great on the highway, but can feel a bit laggy around town. Has anybody swapped in 3.73/4.10's? Or can a tuner rework the power enough to help on the genII?

check out this TSb. i had it done on my 07 4.7 (gen1) and it really improved driveability . And it applies to the 08 too.

Thanks for the heads-up on that...I'll schedule that flash for sure.

I'm surprised the 3.73 gear swap isn't a common mod???

Re: Gears and/or Tuner

are you sure you have 3.07 ??

according to this: http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_specs.htm

looks like all 4.7's have the 3.73.

sorry to crap on this thread but Rob since ur here is there the same kind of update on the 3.7L ? for the hesitation feeling between 38-45 ??? I have that on mine but dunno if there is a TSB out there ...

Re: Gears and/or Tuner

Looks like you're right, Rob. I don't see an axle code on the door sticker or an axle tag to confirm, but that info is clear enough.

I was assuming they were 3.07 based on build options, but probably more because I'm used to 4.56's from my last DD.

Re: Gears and/or Tuner

Most performance and off-road shops will install gears. Grab a new set or a junkyard set and have them swapped in.

Re: Gears and/or Tuner

Sorry, thought you meant the gear swap...

The TSB shows .2 hrs, so it shouldn't cost too much.
