Dream come true

Now of course don't get me wrong, I am a die-hard jeeper. But ever since I started getting into cars, my dream was to have a BMW. Never wanted one to show boat or anything like that, just everything about them I loved; the styling, power and capability, long history of them in the family, me being german lol, my expensive habit of speeding, and appreciation for a well designed driving machine, etc etc. But unlike most the spoiled brats in the town I grew up in, mommy and daddy did not get me a shiny new beemer for my 16th birthday lol. So for years I've been in my jeep world, putting any BMW ideas/dreams on the back burner. However...... about a month ago, the most amazing opportunity arose. One of my very good friends I grew up with whom I've known for a very long time and who went to the same University as me, was graduating. She had a 2002 BMW X5, silver, with about 80K miles on it. At the time, there were a couple problems with it, couple window regulators broken, wheel bearing, needed tires, but nothing major, and an exhaust sensor. Being that they always went to the stealership for repairs, the estimate on getting all of that fixed to sell the car before she moved out to LA of course was a LOT of money, but of course thats BMW talking.. They wanted to either sell the car as is (about 12-14 grand) or donate it for a tax refund. I met with the family, told them how I've wanted a BMW for so long etc etc. Family said to get it fully checked out, and report back with a list of what would need to be repaired, and maybe we would be able to work out a deal. Came back to him with a report of what it would cost for repair shops to do most the work, and it was a little high. So, they didn't want to deal with all of that on top of trying to sell it. DRUM ROLL... family said if I wanted to take on getting fixed whatever needed to (and really, it was nothing at all major, just little things, it runs flawlessly and has always been maintained), they would sell it to me for $1000.... I don't think I let him finish his sentance before I said yes. So, in short, I finally got my dream car, for $1000. And the things that needed to be fixed.. window regulator clips on 2 windows, estimated at 800$ each, (BMW for ya), fixed my self for $4 getting clips at autozone.. wheel bearing was only $325 at a local shop and said since they were in there, why not replace all the CV boots and joints for $50 bucks more, so of course I did it. Would have cost about $2000 probably at BMW. So in the end, everything is done at a fraction of the cost, and I finally have my dream car.

I must say, if you can talk to people and do it well, many doors will open for you... this time 4 opened lol.

Also, craigslist is probably the most amazing site in the world. I wanted a little bit of bass for my Jeep up in CT, just some nice sound. Was looking around and found a guy just needed to get rid of his subs and amp and box asap. met with him and it turned out to be a 1000watt amp, 2 12inch subs, in a ported sealed box. Hooked it all up the day I got it and WOWWWY. It hits amazing hard and solid. I think it might be a little much though, I was really only planning on having one 10inch or so. I'm really not trying to be a homie at the stop light blasting bass ruining peoples day, but for $100 bucks for everything just cause he was in a squeeze, why not. Guess I'll just have to do some major down tuning lol.

Anyways, haven't posted much in a long time, figured I'd share that with everyone.

Names Steve by the way.

( of course, this was an amazing opportunity, but my jeeps aren't going ANYWHEREEEEE)

I also always wanted a 325 BMW but once I got in the drivers seat of my parents WJ it soon became mine. From there I moved to my WK and I don't think I could drive anything else.

But don't get me wrong I'm def glad for you!

Congrats. I love BMW X5s. I almost bought one before i bought my WK but i could not see spending the same $15000 on a 2001 X5 when i could get a 2005 WK. And Jeep is in my blood.
