Some tinkering, grille, paint and my nav bezel etc

So over the past week or so i did some tinkering.

I started by painting my my custom mesh grille black. It was silver and after having it silver for a while it made the front end look too busy. So i poped off the chrome and painted it black. When i originally painted it silver i just used what i had laying around. I used rustoleum hammered finish. it came out really nice so i bought gloss black hammered finish.

After re assembly the black did not look black at all. In fact it looks almost exactly like the Dark khaki paint of the body. So i now have what looks like a color matched grille if you look close. from a far it looks black. So i figured i would paint some other stuff and see how it came out.

I painted the head light covers and the top plastic of the grille assembly and BAM! It looks just like Dark Khaki. Shazaam!

You can see the new chrome signal bulbs too thanks to Rob.

This is the final product. Not professional paint job but its nice. Remember its a hammered finish so it wont look nice and glossy and smooth.

Then i worked on my infamous nav bezel mod. I am trying to make a nav bezel work with a 6 disc cd changer. So far, i cut out what was needed from the stock bezel and used Flexible SEM Weld plastic repair/weld to attach the two parts. It still needs alot of attention and is no where near done but this is it so far. I will work on sanding it more this week and then adding more filler/sand/fil/sand until its ready for some primmer to see where else it needs work. then sand etc.

This was the first try with regular epoxy that just flaked off if flexed. The new SEM product i used will flex with the plastic.

Then i got a set of chrome turn signals from Robpp. Installed them. Much better then the flaking amber signal bulbs.

Eventually i plan to build/buy a real Cold Air Intake and paint that Plum Crazy Purple, SRT8 Strut bar and paint PCP, and maybe one day do the intake manifold PCP.

Purple goes really well with silver, gray and i think it would go well with the dark khaki as an engine accent color. I dont want to do to much just enough.

I also plan to sand and paint the lower air dam to match the body color because i cannot afford the buy Spiker's Dark khaki factory painted air dam.

nicely done. i think you should paint the bezels under your windshield wipers also, it would look good.

Thanks everyone. I Love all these small, easy cheap mods that really make a nice difference in the end.

I thought about doing the wiper bezels but if i did anything with those id want to make them gloss black, i like the contrast. Ive seen a few WKs that are dark Khaki and everything is color coded and to me its too dark of a color and looks like a turd (pun intended) going down the road. Thats why i have kept all my chrome. I actually want the overland chrome roof rack rails and the rear lift gat handle too but thats too much $ to buy new. Maybe i can score a deal on that stuff one day.
