Jeep remote start

It is not 25 feet, according to their website, with that long antenna on the roof it does serve some purpose
quote from the jeep website.....

Available as a factory-installed option. This convenient feature starts the engine from outside the vehicle using the key fob. It can work up to 328 feet away. Handy

that is good almost 500 feet, that antenna on the roof is also good to get the internet, you would get that 3g broadband internet router from mopar, they probably would install it under the rear seat.Rear integrated dvd headrest will be coming late availability.

This jeep is the hippest vehicle on the market right now,and if they get the u connect guardian their version of on star it will be untouchable.

That is nice, but that is after market not factory,I watch a car program called motoring, the mechanic had a car with electronic problem, that they could not solve ,until they remove the after market remote start from the car.

This is what the mechanic said, all this spaghetti wire was found in the car,and this after market crap(remote start) was causing the problem,he also said people should not get these after market remote start in their car,if it is not a factory remote start, do not install it in your car.

No! I am just happy that jeep make a factory remote start, because I will not put a after market remote start in a car, especially a brand new automobile.

LOL so basically your saying that chryslers factory remote start system is great and according to a mechanic you saw on tv, all the aftermarket kits are trash and will cause electrical problems due to the extra wiring.

LOL,the mechanic said factory remote start are the best, because they come install in the vehicle and already and have been tested. (compatible)

My 1995 orvis edition is my 2nd jeep,a brand new 2011 overland jeep in Canada cost between $50,000 and 60,000 cdn$ when you add provincial and general sales tax.

For this price I would not take the risk in installing a aftermarket remote start in my brand new jeep,if chrysler did not make a factory remote start.

My firs choice was to buy that Mercedes Benz gl,the price is between $80,00 and $100,00 cdn $ with all the features that I want, they don't make a remote start just like BMW,The MB salesman told me not to put a aftermarket remote start in the MB if I choose to buy one.

However I leaning towards buying the jeep,I will wait for the 2012 model and see if they follow through with the u connect guardian, and by then they might also add a 6 speed jeep which was rumored at this site.

^^^^ Not everything that is made factory is BETTER then other aftermarket parts. Hence, as to WHY jeep makes aftermarket parts, and as do other companies.

Just because YOUR mechanic says they are better doesnt mean you shouldnt believe your mechanic. Is your mechanic an engineer for Jeep? Is your mechanic an Electrical technician? Therefore, dont take everything he has to say for granted.

There are SEVERAL aftermarket systems out there that are GREAT QUALITY systems if installed correctly.

Like I said, can't judge parts because they are not factory.

That would be great information to provide to a Mercedes Benz gl forum, but really I was only questioning why, with no apparent first hand experience you are posting this

good luck with your purchase I probably wouldn't want to mess around too much with a 60k vehicle either, but that doesn't mean it can't or hasn't already been done without problems.

No its not my mechanic, its a regular auto show on TV that I watch where they give tips to maintained your vehicle,at that part of the program somebody brought in a car with numerous electronic problem, and they found out it was the aftermarket remote start that was the source of the problem.

I would even really consider Mopar parts design especially for chrysler automobile as really aftermarket, you purchase these mopar parts through Chrysler and have them install through Chrysler, they will honor your warranty if there is a problem, and your vehicle is still under warranty.Do that with a 2nd or 3rd party that is a different story.

That mechanic was probably the same guy who wrote the article telling people not to jailbreak their iphones because it voids apple warranty plus cause battery to drain faster. When it comes to mechanical I will do factory but when it comes to electronics it's aftermarket.

Re: Jeep remote start

I've heard of this problem. My owners manual specifically says do not use an aftermarket remote start as it will not work with sentry key and can mess up electronics. It actually messed up my brothers silverado when he installed one. Most of them are OK but some do actually can mess your car up.
