July Jeep Sales...

Not too impressive, but things are just getting ramped up...
From the Chrysler Blog Site:

"Chrysler Group LLC’s U.S. sales continue to build momentum with a 5 percent increase in July compared the previous year, marking the fourth consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases. But the dog days of summer won’t slow down the company, which is readying a product onslaught of 16-all-new or significantly refreshed vehicles across all Chrysler Group brands in the coming months.

Dodge set the pace for sales in July, with the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Journey setting sales records. Dodge Challenger sales roared up 317 percent in July, compared to the same month in 2009. The Jeep Brand posted a 19 percent year-over-year increase in July as the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee arrived in dealerships in greater numbers. Jeep Grand Cherokee sales were up 54 percent in July, versus July 2009, and were up 86 percent compared with last month. The Ram Brand posted an 11 percent year-over-year increase in July, compared to the same month in 2009. Ram pickup truck sales increased 14 percent in July, fueled in part by the success of the Ram Heavy Duty, Motor Trend’s 2010 Truck of the Year. Ram Heavy Duty sales were up 89 percent in July, with the Crew Cab and Quad Cab models being the most popular choices. Chrysler Town & Country, winner this year of the ninth-consecutive R.L. Polk & Co.’s “Automotive Loyalty Award” in the minivan segment, posted a sales increase of 18 percent in July.

Meanwhile, volumes of the all-new 2011 Jeep® Grand Cherokee are increasing to dealerships, where the much-loved SUV is in very high demand. But the company is just getting warmed up. By the end of August, Chrysler Group will begin to reveal the rest of its 16 all-new or significantly refreshed vehicles in the lineup. "

“The all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is drawing customers into our showrooms, setting the pace and standard for our company, and generating positive reviews both nationally and internationally,” said Fred Diaz, President and Chief Executive Officer – Ram Truck Brand and Lead Executive for U.S. Sales. “We’re gaining some real traction with the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee, and we look forward to the same when we revamp the remaining 75 percent of our nameplates by year end.”

Can't wait to see all the other vehicles.

Grand Cherokee sales up 54% that's good..wish they'd hurry up & clear all the '10's so we can get a good idea how good these babies are selling.

"Standout vehicles at Chrysler were the Sebring, up 11 percent to 3092, and the Town & Country, up 18 percent to 8083. Dodge, meanwhile, saw impressive performances from the Charger (up 126 percent to 6023), the Challenger (up 317 percent to 3695), the Journey (up 11 percent to 4610) and the Nitro (up 96 percent to 2186). Jeep Wrangler, Liberty and Grand Cherokee also made strong showings, up 121 percent to 10,043, 70 percent to 4893 and 54 percent to 5407 respectively. Ram saw Dakota sales pick up 49 percent to 1088 while Ram Pickup sales climbed 14 percent to 20,138."

5407 is not much if (Hopefully July was a production rump up month and the real indicator will be August and September)
- Honda Pilot had 9,570 sales (who buys this garbage suv?)
- Ford Edge set a July record with sales of 9,342 (this is just before launching the all new 2011 model)
- Toyota 4Runner sales trippled
- BMW X5 jumped 50.5 percent to 2,815

Well, considering they only sold about 2,500 per month last year, this still turns out to be less than 4,000 units. It's sort of like Ford claiming a 30% increase in mileage for their Explorer by putting a small 4 cylinder, at extra cost, into the pig. Percentage quotes are always amusing!

I don't think it's bad. Considering that for most of July you couldn't even buy one around here.
