Order restriction questions

Went to order an Overland (4x4, Hemi, Silver, Tan interior) and was told by the dealer that Limited and Overland 4x4 productions were restricted until late Aug/early Sep.

Are production restrictions legitimate?

I was under the impression that restrictions were dealer specific.

Just want to make sure he is not trying to sugar coat a hold up at his level.

Thanks

Re: Order restriction questions

I was told something similar when I ordered an Overland a couple of weeks ago. My dealer didn't have any details, but said there was some kind of restriction. They estimated delivery no earlier than 4 to 6 weeks. That would agree with the late August/ early Sept. dates you were given. The good news is the longer we wait, the more (late availability) options will become available.

Re: Order restriction questions

Looking at the inventory search on jeep.com, there are quite a few Limited and Overland 4x4s sitting on lots in my area and have been for a month now. When I bought my Laredo X 4x4 three weeks ago, there was a Limited 4x4 on the lot and my local dealer had just sold an Overland 4x4 a week earlier.

So they're definitely making them, but maybe special orders are put in the bottom of the queue?

Re: Order restriction questions

From other threads, it seems that they are making revisions in the standard equipment, so they may have stopped accepting orders until these are straightened out. The early Overlands I have seen do not have air lift suspensions which are to be standard, and it was stated that the Nav radio will be the 730 instead of the 430 that early versions had. Generally, more content for the same price! Of course, no word yet on the Mineral Gray paint, and the saddle interior is not available until mid October.

Re: Order restriction questions

My dealer was on restriction when I ordered my Overland last Saturday 7/31. It was due to the it being held until the next shipment allocation. It doesn't seem to be a hold up on the Overland itself... As of Thursday, yesterday, it moved from restriction straight into D status, I now have a vin, and shortly it should move to D1 and be built. Every dealer can only order so many of a certain kind of vehicle based on previous sales quotas every month. That way one dealer can not order 20 Overlands with John Doe Names, and then put them on their lot to sell to customers while other dealers wait for their regular dealer stock because one is being a hog. Makes sense kind of.. But yes the 730N was extra, it seems the 430N is standard, and the Quadra Lift should be on the car as of July 19th and forth orders. The only thing I really want is the newer 730N RHR I think it is, which I have read is not until January. Maybe some how I'll get it swapped out by the dealer when that time comes..

Actually, they adjust the price upward or downward based on the availability of the options. For example, when QuadraLift was not available the MSRP was reduced, and then raised back up when it became available.

Re: Order restriction questions

All I know is that my Overland is scheduled to be shipped tomorrow (according to my phone call yesterday), although there was no specific status saying it was currently being built. According to production dates, it should have Quadra-Lift and the 430N nav (if it has the 730N I won't gripe, but if it has QL, I don't plan to accept delivery and I'll wait a bit to make another order).

I must admit to ignorance regarding what a "restriction" on the orders happens to be. My dealer never mentioned the term when we ordered.

Is there a 'delete' selection available to not have QL on an Overland? If not, will you go to a Limited?

I can verify that if you want to PM me last 6 of VIN.

No, what I meant was that if QL is not on the vehicle, I'll blow the delivery. I don't really want an oddball Overland without the air suspension and I would kinda like to have that capability. I just don't want to have to look to a future where, when I eventually replace this vehicle, I will have to explain "no, it was early production and didn't have it." IMO, the nav system is a minor detail. The type of suspension isn't. Everybody I've talked to, from the dealer to the customer service line, indicates that the Quadra-Lift is going to be on the vehicle.

Excellent point. I just misunderstood your original post.

When I was at the dealer yesterday, they had a 5.7 Overland in the showroom.

I believe someone asked for a pic of the shifter, here it is.
