Nav, backup camera etc

First, is it really worth it? I dont travel that much and when i do its usually to a place that ive been many times, never really needed to use more of a GPs besides whats on my phone.

What are the other benefits of the nav/screen setup?

I dont think i would use my gig.

What about the backup camera? i know i would use that, alot. Especially me g/f.

What would it cost to add a functioning nave setup and reverse camera? I know it would be well over $1000 i bet.

How hard would it be to do?

Not really planning on ever doing any of this, i just see you guys that have it and wonder if i ever came across deals on the stuff if its worth it.

I thnk the REC Nav is def. worth the expense. Updating the Nav disc used to be expensive till I came across NYC_SRT8. He supplies the newest updates for $15....LOL.

Re: Nav, backup camera etc

initially we looked at a Laredo WK with Sirius radio, leather and sunroof (those were the must have options). Then we test drove the Limited WK with NAV/Mygig/VES and the backup camera. Since I have young kids, the VES seemed look a good option. I tow a boat in the summer and the backup camera seemed like a good option when hooking up.
I'd always bought the base vehicles previously, but this time I could see a use for the options, so I went with the Limited.
I agree about the mygig though, I haven't used it yet. Maybe if I didn't have the Sirius radio subscription, I'd use the mygig more.

Re: Nav, backup camera etc

Unfortunatly, if i wanted all the extras as far as nav, my gig etc, i would have had to spend about 2 grand more(the jeep with the extra stuff had less miles and a hemi and i could not afford it ). My jeep was on sale for a great price, Ok limited fully loaded 4.7 for $15 so i was not about to complain about not haivng a few extra options. I always figured if i wanted it that bad i could put it all in.

Is everything plug and play or is the install more complicated?

If i got teh nav module and the backup camera and the updates etc, what else is needed? wiring? programming?

I have the my gig nav with the back up cam and ipod intergration. I love it! just I don't se the sirius much. The traffic allerts from sirius on the GPS IMO is garbage. It's always wrong and changes the rute every 5 min because of traffic allerts. But I have an ipod I keep in the truck and a few cd's loaded in the harddrive.

So is all this stuff plug and play? Is the REC nav head unit plug and play? or does it need a wiring harness? what about the backup camera? is everything in the lift gate to install it over the license plate or does wiring need to be run for that too?

I know alot of vehicles are pre wired for every option so i wasnt sur if the WK had everything there for all this stuff.

I'm not sure any of the new electronics are plug and play. :)

Mating different years of mygig/nav systems with different years of WKs is tricky from what I've read, thats why the lockpick is available.

My understanding is you want same year of audio systems with same years of vehicles to be as close to plug and play as possible.

WKJEEPS had a compatibility chart, I assume you folks are ok with posting links to WKJEEPS, if not, please have a mod delete this post.
