Questions re: 30,000 miles Maintenance

I have a 2009 4x4 Laredo 3.7 base model. I got it new last August and love it, and am approaching my one year anniversary and have 29,500 miles on it. Hard to believe but I did a lot of highway driving this year. Thankfully my father takes care of my cars for me, so he will be doing the 30k service.

From this site and WKjeeps.com it seems there are different schedules recommended than what the owners manual suggests, just wondering if you guys could clarify. Do I have to do the front and rear axles and any thing else or not? The owners manual just says to change oil, air filter, spark plugs, adjust parking brake, and inspect the transfer case fluid.

Thanks,
Mike

Drain your diff fluid, your tcase fluid, engine oil and change your air filter and spark plugs.

And IMO I would have the trans fluid checked and changed if necessary.

That is what my Owners Manual has about my Jeep. I would go with what the owners manual tell you to do.

Speaking of I am coming up on 12k. Its due for some new tcase and front and rear diff fluid, last changed at 6k.

Also I will probably have the trans fluid changed out too. :)

EDIT: I change the tcase and diffs every 6k because I beat on the truck. LOL

Thanks guys, I am lucky to have my dad willing to do the work for me, the thing is he will be reluctant to change fluids that the owners manual isn't saying we have to.

If I remember right. The T-case and the axles are good for the life of the car, but I'm going to change those out when I do my tranny at 100K miles. I have to use my 4WD at least 3-6 months out the year and I think that I would be at 100K miles in about 3 years or less.

Rob you should get a oil analysis done on these short changes. I bet you'll find out there is plenty of life left. Save a load in cash and have alot less waste oil...

Actually no. You should see how black the oil was at 6k (for both the tcase and diffs).

The tcase is a weak point for the SRT-8's and for not much more I get the diffs done too so why not get the oil changed out? :)

Its cheap insurance.

And as far as motor oil every 3-4k it gets changed.

Like I said its cheap insurance.

BTW- I'm just saying what I do for my SRT. Not saying for him to do the same schedule. LOL

If it's not in the owner's manual I don't think I would change it out that much....seems like a waste. But to each his own. :)
