2011 Jeep Cherokee

I am new here and this is my first post. I have owned several jeeps and my sons now have jeeps. But i have never owned a Grand Cherokee. I am looking at the new 2011 Jeep Cherokee. If someone could give me some info it would help.

For example, is the 11 better then the 10
is the overland worth the extra money.
Hemi or V6
and dependability?
and what about chrysler and fiat?

i know there could be many veriable to all these questions, but i would like your gut feelings.

welcome to JG!

By all ccounts and reports the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is leap and bounds, night and day better than the 05-10. Fit, finish, quality of componets etc. are a step above the WK. I have personally driven the 2011 and it was...like said above....night and day better than my 2006. The interior and quality of materials is top notch and onpar with luxury brands.
The Overland is worth the money IMO if you want the best. It has the most luxury and available options. The leather dash and so forth are awesome. The quadra-lift looks to be an awesome option. Its also cheaper than a maxed out limited 4x4 with the hemi.
Hemi or V6? Thats gonna be personal preference. Do you plan on towing more than 5000 pounds? Do you live at higher altitudes? Do you like the V8 engine? If so...the V8 hemi is what you want. If you want better gas mileage and an engine that has plenty of power in the higher rpms...but maybe not from take off. The V6 would suit your needs.

My gut feeling is....THIS is the BEST Grand Cherokee BUILT to date. To show that...70000 have been ordered already in the last 2 months. I plan on buying one myself.

Only time will tell that story. I doubt there has been time for Fiat to inject their own corporate structure into Chrysler, so for now, it's probably status quo with most of management remaining the same. They needed to get designed replacements into production, and those were drawn with Benz, thus the sharing of the ML platform for the WK2.

As others have stated, the Overland seems to be the trick pony for value in a highly optioned Grand Cherokee. A similarly equipped Limited will price out within dollars of an Overland that has more inclusions with the model lineup. It really depends on where you want to be with the sticker price as to how you will order the vehicle.Dependability will be as to how long you plan to keep the Jeep. My past experience has been that starting around 125k, you get into some pricey maintenance costs of necessary systems.
