255/70/17 Firestone Densination AT on Stock WK?????

Does anyone know, or has anyone installed 255/70/17 Firestone Destination AT's on a WK without a lift and had them fit with no problems. I am trying to stuff up the wheel well a little bit since it's going to time for new tires soon.

I am ok with doing just a little bit of modification.

bump.

Just wondering if someone was able to fit this size tire in without a lift or any modifications.

I have the Destinations in 255/70 on stock rims. I do have the RC lift; however, I have seen them fitted to a non lifted WK as well. The only rubbing I get is at full lock. The inner tread rubs the frame very slightly. I don't see any damage to the tread pattern, it only removed some paint from the frame, so I am still undecided on whether to get some spacers or not. If I get spacers then I'm pretty sure I'd have to fold the pinch weld. But then, how often am I going to full lock. I hardly ever do even in parking lots.

think its a slight rub. Get the tire place to mount the fronts and see :)

Those tires may fit but tires are also gears, so it will throw off your speedometer and be slower accllerating since you are effectively making the final drive taller.
Just stick with the stock size; I have those tires in 245 17's and they work great !

Shouldn't change it more than 2mph. If you have a tuner like superchips you can change the speedo to correct it.

On my WJ, with 10mm wider tires, I've found that the odometer is about 3 miles in 100 less than with the stock size, and the speedometer is spot on for true speed. I'm running the Firestones, and find them just as good as the more expensive Revos, and give a smooth, quiet ride.

I went with 245/70/17 and those fit with no rubbing at all, or at least any rubbing that I am aware. But I cannot speak for the 255.

You will definitely run into some rubbing at full lock, but if you fold the pinch weld you shouldn't have a problem

Thanks for all the advice about the tires. I was lucky here to find someone that will do a test fit for me at no charge.

If I have to fold back the pinch weld in the front, about how long does that take and is it pretty simple?
