Which Calipers?
 
Akebono or Teves?

Factory is Teves. Akebono didn't come until 02.

could of had it swaped by previus owner

look if teh front and back look the same also if the front are wil say on the back of rotor. so can get under teh jeep and check if you want

Yes, and if your going to do the upgrade, you would have to do Akebono calipers. :thumbsup:

The Teves calipers that were factory issue for a 99 will be black in color and have a wire retainer clip that is very obvious.

The Akebono calipers are silver in color (when clean) and have no wire clip.

if i swap them to akeono will the install be any diffrent? make it more difficult?

have to remove the caliber and change the bracket with is not hard to do.
just have to blend the caliber when done so pick up some DOT3 fluid if you do it.

You do have to remove the old bracket, the new calipers just bolt on where the old bracket was. And of course you will have to bleed your brakes.

But after the new Akebono calipers are on, changing the pads is actually easier. You no longer have to deal with getting those wire clips back on.

Of course if you really miss dealing with the clips don't worry, you will still have them on the rear calipers.
