sun roof issues

so everyone with the sunroof. you know how it closes in two stages? first is slided closed, then it pushes up, then pulls in a little to seal it?

well mine seems to have stopped doing the push up/seal.

so it sits with about a 3/4" dip towards the rear of the sunroof. It doesnt leak water (yet), but it makes for a pretty annoying amount of wind noise!

so for now, I reach up and push on the glass, which pushes it into the sealed position. but thats ghetto, something only Nate should be doing...

anyone know if this is a known issue that i might be able to fix? or is there a visit to the stealership in my future?

Try going to the dealership...they are fixing my TSB for me under warranty. I expected to pay, but nope.... mine was for the steering wheel clock spring

Dude id your interior gets soaked. Pull back the carpet. It's better on a dry day but run the jeep with the AC on and heat all the way up for 2 hours. That's what I did and it was dry as a but after. Was a whole lot of water under the jeep but it worked. I also sprayed antibacterial spray to keep mold or mildew smell from coming.

I cleaned the trim on my sunroof and now it closes like a champ. It used to questionably ratchet itself closed and now I don't even hear it.

Maybe yours has a little more gunk around the seals and it just needs a thorough cleaning?

Re: sun roof issues

Yeah I just got a damp rag and cleaned all the rubber trim on the glass and around the roof, anywhere noticeable. I pulled some leaves from the tracks and did a final wipe. After I thought something was wrong b/c my sunroof DIDN'T make any noise

It def. sounds like it's getting stuck. Does it just 'stop' or does it slowly give up closing? If it just stops, then it could be more than dirt.

it just stops, it doesnt even attempt to push up, thats why im wondering if i need to try this reset deal.

what im thinking, is that in that TSB, it says check that the battery is giving a good 12 volts...

well my battery was in the middle of giving up the ghost for the past month, so maybe it messed up the way the mechanism was working.

Try the TSB then.. $40 at the dealer isn't that bad for TSB service. If it doesn't work, stipulate a refund with them before they do the work.
