Sub Woofer power question
ok i want to throw a sub in my jeep. I only want a single 10, nothing crazy. I used to have two 10's, and it was good for then, but now, i feel like i dont want that much thump.

should i aim for a 300 watt setup? or is 400 better? is there much of a difference?

also, should i just use a mono sub amp?

Re: Sub Woofer power question
Check out Nate and Matt's threads on the sub issue ... Nate's setup looks sick and it cost him less than $500 for the whole thing ... and knowing that you like to DIY you can do it and have it going

Re: Sub Woofer power question
ok, i can do some searching. I was looking at some $150 subs and $200 amps, the rest of the cost is building my own enclosure...

Re: Sub Woofer power question
I saw a guy that had the Diamond sub and Kicker Amp combo. It actually sounded nice and clean. It wasn't obnoixous but it depends and what watts/amps you go with. I don't know much about audio. Lol. Search around though and I'm sure someone will chime in!

Re: Sub Woofer power question
i'd say go with a nice powerful 10 (1000 rms) in a ported box tuned to the low 30' will sound accurate and responsive and will hit the lows way better than a sealed setup

Re: Sub Woofer power question
I bought the kicker speakers and sub for $200. Great thump and easy install. All plug and play...

Re: Sub Woofer power question
If you want easy, look into a preloaded box from a manufacturer like Kicker or JL Audio. Easy setups and you don't have to worry if the box is correct. I run a single JL 10w3 off a 300 watt rms Pioneer Premier amp and have no trouble with output. I selected the "high output" enclosure and it fits perfectly under the roll cover. May not be the absolute cheapest option but it makes life easy for a novice.
