Video of MagnaFlow muffler swap out

Due to the magnaflow kit being 2.5inch pipe anyway... I done what a few ppl have done already. I cut out the stock giant muffler and got a nice magnaflow in its place... enjoy the videos.

If the transfer from video recording to computer speakers is accurate, that sounds very good, and not at all loud during normal cruise. Adds quite a bit to the engine sounds, and that's a good thing!

Re: Video of MagnaFlow muffler swap out

Video is accurate. Its low and deep. after 65mph to about 80mph its got a loud drone in the cabin. Not horrible, but you can tell its there... around the 2k-2500 rpm range.

I'll have to go down and measure it. I honestly just asked the guy what would sound good, but not be over powering. Got a few options and the magnaflow looked better quality and had lifetime warranty.

OK muffler size is roughly 18" long x 9" wide x 4" tall. With a 8.5" section to connect to the void from stock muffler to tail pipe.

Re: Video of MagnaFlow muffler swap out

My large case (26" long +/-) universal Magnaflow did not drone at higher cruise speeds, so anyone else may want to consider using that if it will fit. I believe it was 10" wide???

Re: Video of MagnaFlow muffler swap out

Yeah I believe that the longer one would fix problems of interstate speed drone. But meh... sounds friggin sweet. lol

I have a 22" mag and I can't hear shit on the hwy.. I think the 4.7 has a resonator by the tip.. Did you leave it on?

Sounds great!

Re: Video of MagnaFlow muffler swap out

Doesn't look like there is one... see 60mph is fine. 65..starting... 70-75 - you can hear it!, 80 not so much. The 2000 to 2500 range is the loud range. Below or above its quiet.

Re: Video of MagnaFlow muffler swap out

In that 2k-2500 rpm range, the motor is struggling to pull the load between the tall gearing and having a high rpm tq peak. If you listen carefully the drone is/can be a combination of the intake and exhaust noise. This was apparent in my WJ. Perhaps the WK has better sound dampening.
