Magnaflow Exhaust on a 5.7 2006 Overland

Hello fellow Jeepers,

Do any of you run a Magnaflow cat back exhaust on a 2006 5.7L Overland?

In particular this one:

(model 16631 http://www.magnaflowstainlesssteelex...aust-4599.html)

I was thinking of getting one and was looking for experience from fellow Jeepers of the cabin noise (if any) that you get?

I had a Maganflow cat back on my old 4.7L JGC and it sounded great from the outside but from the inside all you got was this monotanous moan which got a bit old after a while especially at motorway speed.

Any experience greatly recived.

Cheers

Jon

I have that muffler offered with the cat back kit (5x11x22) but that's it, not the full kit.

I still have the resonator as well, and drone is not a problem at all. If you want noise all the time, I suggest that you shop for a smaller muffler.

I've got that kit on my 05 Limited with the 5.7 and I think it sounds great. The Magnaflow resonator replaces the OE one, a few other cat-back manufacturers omit the resonator. I don't have a drone in the cabin at all with mine. With the windows down, I can hear the exhaust on acceleration, but it's a pretty mild exhaust. With the windows up, it's a mellow tone and very tollerable. It's not obnoxious and my wife doesn't complain so it's a win/win for me.

Well if the wife doesnt moan that is a bonus!

Cheers for that guys, i was a little concerned with my previous experience but if the worse case scenario i can always go back to stock.

Thanks

I've got a custom 3 in. Magnaflow setup on my 06 GCO. The muffler is a 14589,
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/d...rtnumber=14589
and I started out with a single 12 in. glasspack (in the stock resonator position) as a resonator. This was a little too loud, especially when the MDS was active. I then had them add another 12 in. glasspack in front of the Magnaflow and that is perfect. It passes the wife test and when MDS activates there is very little tone change and no drone. I was going to have them put a true small resonator in the stock location, but it was too tight with the 3 in. pipe. Total cost, after adding second glasspack, was $400. Have got to get some headers though. Have you seen those terrible stock exhaust manifolds? Talk about inefficient. Does anyone make bolt on shorty headers for the Jeep Hemi? Don't want long tubes.

all there is at the moment is the AR headers

Thanks, Scott. I've seen those, but they're long tubes. Wonder if anyone is planning to make shorties?

I just got my Dynomax muffler in the mail today. I have to post a video after I get it installed and we can compare.

Are you after top end power only and not extra torque down low then?
