Does WK2 have electronic throttle control?

Anybody knows for a fact?

I've been reading on other cars that use that technology (RAV4 for example) and sometimes you press on the gas and nothing happens for up 0.5s b/c computer thinks opening throttle fast will adversely affect gas mileage (or something like that).

Computers don't think; they do exactly as they're told to do. I get what you're asking, though, and it's a good question...

Were there any reports of hesitation?

Re: Does WK2 have electronic throttle control?

2007 Libertys have really slow electronic throttle control due to an old, slow bus.
The Grand Cherokee has always been CANbus so it doesn't have that issue. When you hit the gas pedal, you go. There is no waiting.

Yes, this is what I meant - I am a software developer myself. This is why having computer control a throttle just doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling...

Get accustomed to it since I believe most cars have this now. Some others are doing the same with the steering wheel!

I have the new V6 and feel some hesitation from time to time. Just like you said, you hit the gas and nothing happens.

I think what you mean that "power steering" used to mean "hydraulically assisted" (using pump) and now it is often "electrically assisted" (using electric motor), right?

So how does that manifest itself? You turn the steering wheel but car keeps going straight?

I hear you. I'm a developer, too, and I know that I write a ton of bugs no matter how careful I am.

Yes, but it has it's own "brain" controls to do that work.
