Leather seats

The Jeep site describes the leather seats as:

"Nappa ventilated leather with Axis II perforated inserts low-back bucket seats"

So which part of the seat is Nappa and which part is Axis II? And is Axis II leather or vinyl?

"inserts" if the word is what it means, would mean to me "inside". I believe the seats are full leather but I could be wrong, I'll have my Jeep in a few days.

Re: Leather seats

An "insert" on a car seat is the center section between the bolsters. I also believe the whole surface (both insert and bolsters) are leather. I've heard that the sides and back of the seats aren't leather, I'm not sure. That's the way my KJ's leather seats, are though, so I wouldn't be surprised.

I think nappa means the perferated sections.

Nappa is just a type of leather. Nappa leather defines all types of full grain leathers. Nappa leather comes from sheepskin, lambskin and kidskin.

And of course, via recycling of condoms!!! When they refer to the 'inserts', they are speaking of the seating surface, the perforated part, not the internals of the seat. And yes, it's completely leather.

The OP knows that; they were wondering "Axis II" is leather or not.

Also see my "Leather Inserts" post. The only leather I saw on the Overland was on the inserts, the dashboard, upper door trim, and steering wheel.

Odd (ironic?) that where it would traditionally be leather (seats), it's not all there. Yet where it's traditionally plastic (trim, dash, etc.), it's now leather.
