Quadra-Lift w/ 18"s or 20"s?

I know there was some confusion a while back as to whether the Quadra-Lift equipped cars would come with 18" wheels, or with the 20" wheels. There was conflicting literature provided by Jeep, some brochures said that the Quadra-Lift was only available with 18" wheels (I would assume for clearance purposes), but then later went on to state that the Overland model (which comes standard with Quadra-Lift) would be equipped with 20" wheels.

Any clarification on this?

standard on the Overland is QL and 20" wheels. 18" wheels are added with an offraod package

Yeah, someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I think the only way to get the QL on models other than the Overland is to get the off-road package, which includes the 18" wheels. So that might have been the source of the confusion.

Does anyone know if putting the 20's on with Quadra Lift would hurt the Jeep in any way? I mean, I assume there is some reason they put 18's on it when you get QL.

Outside tire diameter is not quite identical, but VERY close. As in a couple tenths of an inch, tops- nothing to worry about.

The reason off-road packages get 18" rims is because 20" rims would be destroyed in any real excursion- it comes down to how much sidewall there is. With a given O.D., the extra two inches are given over to sidewall, and sidewall flexes- aluminum rim bends.

Thanks! I wont really be getting into what most here would consider a "real" excursion. I just do a bit of hunting that requires I go through some muddy roads with mild mud conditions and do a bit of driving in the snow. I did notice that the commercials and pictures (even ones with QL engaged) seem to be the one with 20" wheels.

Sounds like you are leaning towards the 20s. They definately look nice, especially on this vehicle. However I decided that the 18s were a better choice for me because of the availability of A/T tires. There are very, very few choices of A/T tires in the 20" size. In fact, I'm not even sure there are any.

IMO, why limit your Jeep to the road and mild trails because of your tire selection. You never know when you might need to use the Jeep for what it's made for!

Always been a question, why purchase a Trail Rated Jeep and only stay on the pavement? I too will go with the 18" tire and wheel combination along with more
agressive tires for winter and gravel roads.

Winter road conditions and resale value (if you consider these to have one!) Ever notice how many 4 door sedan offerings there are with AWD now? I believe the Overland, regardless of having the 20" all-season tires, has that silly badge on the front fender.

Can anyone confirm if overlands w/ quadra-lift have the "trail rated" badge?

AFAIK, only if you get the Adventure II package.
