2003 Factory Alarm Issue

Hi guys, I am kind a new on this forum. I have a 2003 Grand Cherokee with factory keyless entry. Yesterday I try to disarm the alarm using my key and the alarm wont disarm, then I try disarming it with the remote and it works. Any advice? Can someone help me to solve my problem?

Is only the alarm not disarming, or does the door not unlock as well. In the last case, most probably one of the small rods inside the door, is loose or broken. The one which connects the lock cylinder with the lock mechanism. You have to remove the door inner cover to get access to it.

Is only the alarm.

Ok, there is a door cylinder lock switch which is mounted on the inner side of the outside door handle. You can measure the resistance of this switch when you disconnect it. It should be 473 Ohm in lock position and 1994 KOhm in unlock position (both plus or minus 10%). When not in limits, you have to change the switch. When the switch is ok, there is probably a loose or broken wire. The switch is connected to the Driver Door Module, from where the signal is send to the Body Control Module. A weak point of the wiring is where it passes from the door to the body. (inside the rubber sleeve) This one is easy to remove and maybe a good point to start with.
To get access to the switch, you have to remove the inner door panel.

Thanks guys for the quick response. The problem is fixed. I replace the little switch behind the door lock cylinder and its working perfect. Again thanks.
