HEMI tick poll

I am looking at buying WK2 and still can't decide between V6 and HEMI.

Posting in this forum because expect to have more long-term HEMI owners here.

Gas mileage is not a problem for me (don't drive much). Price difference is not that much.

HEMI tick is the only thing that concerns me. I test-drove V6 and HEMI on WK2 and didn't really notice it but drive was not really long.

Do "they all do this"?

the tick isnt as bad as some make it seem..i dont notice it unless im outside of the vehicle or driving along a wall or something that it can echo.

Mine is extremely noticeable, but I have a CAI. I don't think it's much of an issue with the new hemi (2009 and up)

I understand there was HEMI redesign in 2009? Where can I get some information about what has changed?

Has your tick been the same from day 1 since you purchased it new or it got worse over time?

The "HEMI tick" is greatly diminished since I started using full synthetic 5W-20 at 36K miles. Most times it is non-existent now (51K miles). :D

Yeah, it's very oil dependant, mine ticks without genuine oil. Due to the genuine oil's ridiculous cost here, I'm now using Mobil 1 5W/30 and find it's just noticable (at times, sometimes not at all), but not overly annoying.

I bought the vehicle with 19,000km's on it, at that time I didn't notice it nor did I know that the Hemi tick exsisted. From about 35,000 and up I noticed a VERY signifigant increase, but I am extremely hard on my vehicle. As for the oil, I noticed it is slightly more harsh when using castrol instead of Mobile1, (No I don't work for Mobile1:lol:)

I don't notice mine except on first start up. Once the engine warms up, it seems to go away, or is greatly diminished.

Mine does it, but I only hear it if I'm outside the vehicle and it's idling. Like if I'm looking under the hood while it's running you can hear it. I was told it was the fuel injectors. I've also been told it's the CAM and lifters. It's not a reliability concern though, not that I'm aware of anyways.

Just turn the stereo up a couple notches and the tick will go away! :nutkick:
