Incentives question

Say I purchase car now but it has to be ordered at the factory.

Today there are no incentives but on the day of delivery - there is cash back that would apply to me.

Is it reasonable to ask dealer to put in writing that incentives effective on the day of delivery will be applied to the price?

And the other way around: what if there are incentives now but on the day of delivery there aren't any?

Re: Incentives question

This is a topic you have to discuss with your dealer upfront. I am in the phase of ordering as well and my dealer told me that no worries, what ever incentive at the point of time of ordering or delivery I will be eligible for it. But again, that depends on the dealer and you should clarify this upfront.

Re: Incentives question

If you put a deposit down, you will be eligible for rebates in the month in which you put the deposit as well as the month when you car arrives, as long as its price protected meaning I guess the deposit locks it in. For example the 1,000 loyalty rebate which expired last month, I am eligible for since I put a deposit last month.

Did they put it in writing - $1,000 loyalty rebate?

Re: Incentives question

When the dodge nitros 1st came out my mom wanted to order one and the dealer told her that if there was rebates on the car when she picked it up then it would go on the car but if there was cash back when you ordered it. It would not carry over unless they still have that program. I also was told that from the Ford dealer when I was looking into buying a Mustang GT and was going to have that ordered.

I was told if I ordered what I wanted now, it would come in October, and if the pricing/incentives were better, I would get the better deal then. If not, I would still get what was quoted to me now.

Re: Incentives question

Dealer I dealt with offers price protection for their quotes. If there are any incentives when I pick up the car, I can take advantage of those if they are better than the incentives they had available when I put the deposit down.
