4.7 GenII Spark Plugs

Has anyone changed spark plugs on a GennII 4.7? Did you change upper(intake) and/or lower(exhaust) plugs? Which did you buy?

There's not a whole lot of info to be found on these, only the factory parts for the 2 sets of plugs (upper: Bosch FR8TE2; lower: Bosch FR8T1332)

RockAuto doesn't have the Bosch numbers, but they list Denso plugs. Summit doesn't even list the 4.7 parts.

From www.wkjeeps.com

I'd go to autozone or other parts store, they'll hook ya up right.

Type: FR8TE2 (intake)

Type: FR8T1332 (exhaust)

Bosch Nickel Yttrium plugs (intake)
Bosch Iridium plugs (exhaust)

OEM P/N SPFR8TE2AA (intake side)
OEM P/N SPFR8TI332 (exhaust side)
MSRP: $4.60 ea. (intake side)
MSRP $8.10 ea. (exhaust side)

.040 in. gap (intake side)
.050 in. gap (exhaust side)
??" reach, 5/8" Hex head?
Torque to 20 Ft. lbs.
CAUTION: This engine uses TWO DIFFERENT types of spark plugs. A total of 16 plugs is used. The plugs are mounted in two rows (banks). The upper row is used on the intake valve side of the cylinder head. The lower row is used on the exhaust valve side of the cylinder head. The upper row uses Bosch Nickel Yttrium plugs. The lower row uses Bosch Iridium plugs. DO NOT INTERCHANGE THESE PLUGS.

Thanks for posting that info, maxst2. I read up on the wkjeeps site to get the numbers also, but was looking to see if anyone purchased other plugs or had any other experiences.

Re: 4.7 GenII Spark Plugs

From what I have read, jeep(mopar) engines are pretty picky when it comes to plugs.

Also im 100% sure that they are way cheaper than what is listed there from a parts store. Have some free time and a case of beer, they'll be a awhile to get done thats for sure. More so on the back passenger side bank. Those are a pain to get to.

Good enough for me! You buy from dealership?

Where can I see pics/video/audio of your engine, Scott?

Re: 4.7 GenII Spark Plugs

yes.....my gen 2 came from an 08 commander.......it only had 1k miles on it...but was from a wreck and sat for awhile. So we did switch new plugs in when we did the tone ring and upgrades. I have some audio on here somewhere.....but pics I dont. It looks just like your Gen2...but the intake manifold is painted inferno red
