Adding AUX port??

I hate to start a new thread about this since I'm sure its common knowledge around here but searches were'nt helping. I just got (a few weeks ago) a 2005 GC Loredo. I'm trying to plan out some audio upgrades using as many of the componets I already have as possible. FYi, I've got a 12" sub (ED 13kv), 4 channel planet audio amp (VX4004), and 6.5" components (ED 6500). I need to add an AUX port of some sort to play my Zune and music from my Droid. And I'd like to install everything at once. My question is what's the best way to go about this? I want to keep with the factory headunit for now for $$ purposes. I've read about an ipod adapter and I've also seen someone selling a headunit out of a 2006 Loredo that had a AUX port in the bottom left button. It was cheap too ($55 shipped). I assume 2006 Loredos came like this stock.

when you buy your interfaces for the amp and sub see if it includes an ipod jack. or add one iin.

didnt say what factory unit you have but some of the later ones had an aux port. 07 for sure. prolly sell for 20-30 bux on ebay. be cheaper than the harnesses I have seen,.

But you're saying I'll need the harness anyway to install my speakers/amp?

does your current jeep have an AMP?

if so, you could try to messs with that plug.

either that or chop into the factory plugs.

wkjeeps has the pinoiuts for all the connections if you want to do it that way.

This is what my radio looks like: http://www.edmunds.com/pictures/VEHI...ee.31859-E.jpg

I dont know what route I should go to get everything I want and spend my $$ the smartest way possible. As I understand my options as of now I can add a PAC Adapter or "chop into the factory plugs". I've read a couple threads here stating some troubles splicing into the factory wiring so I dont know if I want to go that route. I hear the PAC Adapter is around $100. I'm wondering if it might be better to just get a cheaper/sale headuint from Crutchfield which should come with the adapters I'd need (i'm guessing). I assume getting a new headunit would make it easier to install the rest of my system too right? I really don't know very much about audio, sorry..

I have the same radio and the same situation as you the radio you might want to look into is the REQ but I'm still trying to figure out if the can be swapped out in the 05 wks without any issues.

I use the RCA inputs from the VES dvd center in the back of the car. It works pretty well. It just takes sometime for the center to pick up the signal and play. Also, If the music becomes to quiet then the signal/ connection is lost.

Dont have a DVD player so thats a no go for me. I'm thinking about just going with a cheaper Alpine unit like the cde-100 or 102 now. Just got to save a little since I just got back from a golf trip and I'm a little tapped.

Hey I Just Added One to my REC Nav Radio, I didnt post any pics but i did add one and it works amazing well and didnt really cost all that much. So i Purchased this item. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/iSimple+...ract_desc=nullhttp://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US...9252122_sa.jpg

It Basically is am FM Transmitter that directly inferaces with the Cars Antenna so there is no static and noise, I had to but 2 antenna adaptors to run to the larger antenna type connecter and then another to run back to the smaller type on my radio, so this box kinda works between the radio and the antenna. Ive been using it for a week and it works awesome! I Put the Aux Jack in that Pocket in bottom of the center console under the heater controls and put a switch so i can turn the unit it on and off, I installed it under the steering wheel and ran all wires right behind the center console and used the cig lighter for my 12v source. Tune it to 87.9 and its clear as day. Worked great for me no inference and i can turn off the unit when not it use. Amazing Sound Qaulity!

nice looking install! I had one of these installed in my wife's car and she loves it. At that price though I might just get a cheaper Alpine headunit. It should make installing my other audio equipment a lot easier too. I was just thinking about going with a 06-07 stock headunit if I could do it for $50 or so and it made sense.

That's crazy expensive for an FM modulator!!!!
I want Aux in as well since my '05 doesn't have it, but I definitely don't want to loose the Uconnect so switching radios is out.
