2007 antenna issue

I bought a shorty antenna and when trying to take the stock antenna off it wont budge. Used plyers and tried both turning and pulling it. Anyone else have this issue?

There's a metal ring on it not sure if its part of antenna or not. It has 3 grooves on it. Its same color as antenna that silver. Tried turning that too. Nothing moves

Re: 2007 antenna issue

Just did this on my 05 WK. The metal part with the groves was a nut on mine that I had to add a little WD40 to and then use expandable plyers and unscrew it, like any nut. I used a thin rag between the jaws of the plyers and the surface of the nut and covered the surrounding area with a clean rag so as to not get any of the WD40 on the paint. This is only how I did it and I am not sure if the 07 model has a different attachment method but I doubt it. Good luck!

you were both right. i think it had red loctite on it, and wd40 and locking plyers for 5 mins did the trick. finally got rid of that flopping thing and put on the shorty

red loctite is the strong stuff. makes sense though. its a factory job. they dont want things to come off that they put on....and thats why we mod. lol.

i hit mine with a torch and it loosened right up.

use heat CAREFULLY to loosen red. blue is medium an usuall breaks loose without too much toruble. just did my hood bolts with blue.....

lol well that stuff was effective. but not enough for someone with WD-40 and a lot of time on his hands wanting to mod!
