Side Steps install completed w/pics

Not to take away from my other thread of all my pictures, but for anyone contemplating side steps in chrome and/or black and the chrome fog bezels, heres a few pictures to show what they look like on a black overland.

It took probably an hour or so per side, its a relatively simple process of mounting the brackets and then the side steps, no drilling is required. I got one on last night then it got to dark and finished the other this morning.

Can anyone explain to me what the purpose of side steps is? In this (and most of other cases when truck is not lifted) they give you at most 2 inches, maybe less. And reduce clearance.

Gives you a place to step while getting in. If you have small children like I do you need these. It makes it alot easier for them to get in and out. Looks great!

Looking at the pics now, I think the chrome grille insert probably isn't needed...the black with black looks proper. Are those steps the same chrome as the window trims and side stripe, or are they a polished stainless that doesn't match as well? As for the function: my mother was very short, and she always had a hell of a time getting into any of my Jeeps. Yes, for young children, and for those of us that are aging, they have real function!!

Protection from stone chips too or what ever crap they put down on the roads here in michigan during the winter time.

Nice look, I will be getting a set also!

Beautiful chrome bezel, chrome side step beautiful, they all just flow with the vehicle, if you have snow or some mud on your shoes, you can knock them off on the black rubber surface on the side step, you also can stand up on the side step and wipe the beautiful panoramic sun roof with a nice cloth, that is class right there, the best SUV on the market right now,and it will be for a very long time,as long as Chrysler does not mess with the current design. It look better than the range rover supercharge.

Yea I dont need them, they are purely for looks in my case and protection as others mentioned. Im 6'3" i doubt I'll ever use them, passengers however will. Its a beefy Jeep

and Joe they don't really reduce ground clearance, based on how they mount they come to about the same level as the car itself. The side steps don't inhibit anything. Then again if your going to go hardcore off-roading where you need clearance, people would have rock rails, not side steps and also skid plates.

The side steps match the same chrome as the vehicle, its not a stainless counter partner, they match as if they came from the factory.

Also as Mangoe mentioned, I used them today to dust the roof the the Jeep off.. lol Stupid pollen/dust.

Nice OP.

We end up standing on the doorsills to get skiis and mountain bikes off the roof racks, these would come in handy and are basically less aggressive rock rails with some zing.
