Poor dealership experience? This is the place!

Hi All!

I've started this thread (and it's sister thread, Good dealership experience) to start a place that we can either give good dealership reviews or bad ones. Eventually this will be an archive that others can search when looking for a place to buy a Grand Cherokee. Remember, this is the place for poor dealership reviews!

Please, let's keep it simple. I suggest we keep it in this format:

- Dealership name and location
- Approximate date
- Brief summary

I've been asked by the mods to request that everyone not post any names, and I agree that this is best. So please refrain from calling anyone out by name. Let's keep it professional everyone!

- Taoma Dodge, Tacoma WA

- can't remember salesman's name

- 8/15/10

- AMV (added market value sticker), I hate these. Salesman's poor knowledge of the Grand Cherokee. Dealership unwilling to order exactly what I wanted.

Does this include servicing issues as well or just sales?

Initially I was just going for sales, but who wants to buy a Jeep at a place that they are scared to have it serviced?!?

Go for it! But please keep it brief, and no names. I really envisioned this as a thread that folks can quickly review when deciding where to shop for their new Jeep.

hey dean, this is OK but no personal information here.

NO NAMES. please remove the salesman's name request. and NO PERSONAL INFORMATION.

Dealer name and location and why it was a bad experience is plenty.

Thx

Hey, I agree completely! I really didn't want this to be a 'bash whats-his-name thread' anyway.

I just wanted to offer a counter point to my 'good dealership' thread. I feel that there should be both in order for folks to know what to aviod and where to go.

Milosch Place Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge
6/28/10

Those rat bastards added so much fat into the overall price of the loan that my bank needed me to put 2K down even when I was at the dealership that I bought my car from at a much lower price. With my Lincoln rolled into it, they wanted the loan to be 34-35K and that was without my 2K added in. They lied to me about the cost of both my Lincoln and the Liberty. They tried to get me to give them my credit app before I got to test drive the car. They tried to get me to buy a Liberty that had 500 miles on it but I told them that at 500 miles, it was no longer a new car. When I got into the financing office, the finance guy got pissed off at me because I called him and his staff a lier to his face and that I was not going to pay 37K for a 26K car. When I went to the dealership that got my business they told me that there was no way that the total amount on the loan should have been that high even if they gave me what the Place gave me on my trade-in

I hate that place and will NEVER go back there even if they are the only dealership in the state of Michigan. Its a shame that dealership wasn't the one that shut down. Thieves and con-artistes that dealership is

I posted my good experience in the other thread about the dealer I did order from but here is the bad one:

Washington DC area

Lustine Jeep
Woodbridge VA
Melvin (dont have last name)
And an unnamed "manager"
Refused to move at all on price on my limited. Told me that they could sell above MSRP and that they did not need my business.
Refused to order what I wanted said I just had to wait until what was on order already (that did not match my specs) came in, then when I went somewhere else and ordered and got a great price, kept calling every week for 9 weeks begging me to come back and deal with them.
This was the beginning of July though beginning of Sept timeframe.

I still go there for required stealership service on my vehicles. Never had a problem with service dept but sales is horrible.

Two bad experiences so far:

Al Piemonte Jeep in St. Charles IL
9/24/10
I called and spoke to the salesperson. Gave EXACT specs on the two JGCs I'm looking for. Said I wanted a quote faxed or emailed to me. Within 5 minutes I got a call from someone else at the dealership, NO clue what I was looking for, but saying "What can we do to close this deal TODAY?" Before I'd even gotten a quote!! 2 days later I get an email with a quote for only one of the trucks. And it was the most expensive quote of the 5 I've gotten.

Feeny Jeep in Elgin IL
9/24/10
Same setup as above. I call, give exact specs, even including build codes. I get an email 2 days later "So that I can give you a better quote, tell me what options you're looking for other than engine size!"

Come on guys! I'm about to give you $90K in business and you can't even grab a pen and paper to write down specs?

Lustine is the absolute worst. Before my wife and I purchased her Limited at Farrish on Saturday, we stopped by Lustine and saw a Laredo out front with a $6,995 markup. :wtf:

Re: Poor dealership experience? This is the place!

Reading these reminds me of the first time I went to buy a new truck. Showed up at my local ford dealership to check out a new F150, it was a saturday with plenty of college football on the tube. I walked the lot for about 30 mins and finally went inside to see if I could get some help.

Long story short, all the salesmen were listening to college football on the radio and didn't have any plan to move their butts from the building. I asked to see the inside of a truck and he said, why? You can see it through the window can't you. Then he proceeded to say that unless I had a check in my hand he wasn't coming out to show me anything.

I promised myself 10 years ago I would never set foot on the lot again, and I haven't. Biggest group of worthless people I've ever seen in my life.

Tuttleclick Jeep Irvine:
2011 Jeep GC Limited Hemi
10/1/10
First Oil Change.
Service guy RObert dePoto
Note: I did not purchased my 2011 GC here.

Story:
My 2011 GC has 1k in miles now and I want the original oil changed to synthetic. The service guy I got (Robert) takes my keys, checks my millage and comes back to tell me I dont need to see him for another 6K in miles. Thanks, but I want it changed anyhow.

I immediately tell him I dont care and that I want the break in oil removed and changed to synthetic. He kinda rolls his eyes and plays the Im trying to save you money card. Onward to tell me engine "break in" is a thing of the past. And that my oil is plenty clean to continue running for another 6K and that the computer would tell me when its time. I calmly tell him, no thank you and I want it changed regardless now.

The service guy Robert seems frustrated that I want to do this but I dont care. My oil gets changed in about 1hr time and when I get back in it, I see a oil change sticker reminder saying to come back in 3k of miles!!!

So I walk back up to the service desk to make sure they didnt slap more regular oil in. They call the mechanic and he confirms I did in fact get synthetic oil.

But now all of a sudden I have a sticker saying to come back in 3K with synthetic oil? And the service guy Robert wanted me to put a total of 7K on my stock oil? ROFL.

I wont be going back here ever...
