Axel Oil Seals
New to Jeep and new to the forum.

I just picked up a 2002 GC Laredo Sport with 77k on the odometer. The other day I saw a liquid running down the (in)side of the tire and when I checked it was oil. I looked it over really well before I made the purchase and didnt notice oil coming out of the axels. I have a feeling that the vehicle sat for a long period of time without it being driven (thus the low miles).

I have a couple questions:

Would idle time without use lead to seal failure or leaking?

The seals are dirt cheap, are they easy to change?

Does anybody know where I can get a step-by-step guide to changing them? (I have a Haynes service manual, but it sucks, lol)

wassup bro, to answer ur questions, yes just sitting for an extended period could have to seals leaking, they are easy enuff to change if your are mechanically inclined and have the right tools. and the haynes service manual is probably the best your gonna do for a step by step guide. that is unless another member has written one. good luck!
