ASP Underdrive Pulley

I don't know if this has already been posted but I this...

http://www.aspracing.com/mopar.htm

Was wondering if that would work on our engines too, particularly the 4.7L. I know Airram has the ATI Harmonic Dampner with the underdrive pulley so maybe he'll be able to chime in.

thoughts?

Yup Mike (Downstate) has it on his SRT. Maybe not that brand but same thing.

Re: ASP Underdrive Pulley

The brand is EVERYTHING.

You need to do some research on Harmonic balancers and how they work in order to make the right decision. I will try to sum it up in a nut shell...

Our engines come with a one piece harmonic balancer with the Pulley being part of it. So if your changing your pulley you must also change your balancer.

The ASP is a PULLEY... that’s its sole intention. BUT in order to offer you this pulley they must also include a new balancer. The ASP balancer is heavier than stock and it also does not dampen as well as your factory stock Damper. So you are stepping down in engine reliability in order to run an under-drive pulley. So the primarily product is the pulley and the Asp lead damper is designed solely to mount that pulley to it.

The ATI Super damper is just that... Its a SUPER Damper first! The ATI Superdamper will eliminate engine vibrations that tend to wear your bearings and brake parts over time. This Super damper will protect your engine throughout the RPMs where the factory and ASP pulley simply cannot. No matter if you like to get on it once in a while or daily, the ATI Superdamper is a wise investment that will protect your engine no matter how you drive.

Our 6" ATI damper weighs only 3.9lbs, while the factory weighs over 10lbs! After I had installed the ATI damper I noticed ir ran noticably smoother from idle all the way through the RPM range past 6500RPMs.

If your wanting a true performance part... one that will protect your engine & offer the 25% under drive option the ATI Super damper is the one you should seriously consider. They Run the ATI Dampers on the top Nascar race cars and on many dragsters... Click here for a direct link to the ATI website FAQ section...

SPEED SAFE, NICK

Re: ASP Underdrive Pulley

I'll have a Powerbond pulley (they make the SLP unit) availlable for the 5.7L/6.1L in the next couple of weeks. i'm going back to stock, for my fan is delayed more than I would like due to it being hydraulic and I'm in stop and go traffic all the time. It has never overheated, but I don't want to take the chance. Performance is very noticeable over stock...quicker off the line. It is the best out there and certified.

PM me if you're interested...

Re: ASP Underdrive Pulley

a hemi one wont fit a 4.7 ^^^^^^^^^^^

i understand why a better balancer is good. not sure that is worth 500 and my jeep is a 99.9 % street vehicle. add a few HP via the under drive and maybe its a worthwhile mod. and the ATI is 25% underdrive for the 4.7; way more than most of their other chrysler serp pulleys. why so much?

what kind of changes can I expect in daily driving with a 25% under pulley??? PRO AND CON please.

Re: ASP Underdrive Pulley

Much quicker response off the line, slight drag in steering when parked and heavy feeling when moving (I actually like the heavier feel when cruising), stereo may not be as loud (aftermarket/larger amp only), less wear and tear on your pumps, better times at the track...
