LED question
i'm looking for a SMALL white LED..

this looks like its prolly really small.

how hard are these to work with? how much resistance do i need to wire in to get them to work safely being wired into headlight wires?

Re: LED question
Be careful with LEDs and your WK. I guess they are fussy and blow fuses alot. I am sure someone who knows more about it will chime in. There was a big discussion about LED tail bulbs and signals in another section.

Re: LED question
also, there is an issue running 14 volts thru some LEDs. they sure look bright but they wont last. mostly from the heat.

and I agree with kyle, first thing if I am touching anyhting to do with electrical on the WK, undo negative battery wire. that saves lots of fuses in itself.

you only need to worry about adding resistance if this bulb is the only thing on the circuit. you say 'wired into headlight' that can mean a 1000 things, so if you are adding this bulb to some circuit that will have the original bulb connected too, you wont need a resistor. if LED only bulb on circuit, then need resistnace. typically if its a single bulb replacement on said circuit its 6 ohm. if its 2 circuits, 3 ohm.

Re: LED question
What exactly are you trying to do?

Re: LED question
interesting... so what about those color change turn signals? they are a replacement, but they run a 3OHM resistor.

What am i trying to do? long story, but i want a small, dimly lit LED to come on when the head lights come on. Something like running lights. (and i DO mean dimly lit)

Re: LED question
im thinking you can add that tothe headlight circuit without resistance. the one you linked is 12-24 v so that one should be safe.

about the turns, v-leds seels a white/amber turn signal/park lamp for US models.
so you put parking lights on, its white, but when it blinks, its amber. there is a write up here somewhere about them. and yes, they use a 3 ohm resistor.
