New Tires Coming Soon!!!

I made my appointment today for my new tires on my WK. Since I am just not happy with the current tires that are on there (plus i have over 65K on the original factory tires) I am going with 255/70/17 Firestone Destination ATs. I am going with a larger size than stock which is 235/65/17 and I do not have a lift. I am lucky that the place I am getting the tires from said they will do a test fit for me and if they don't fit they will just put on a smaller size at no additional charge. Here is a pic of the tire:

They will be installed at the end of the month. I did the calculations and the tires should fit no problem. Will post pics once they are installed along with any mods I had to do to get them to fit.

i put the larger size on mine at the shop and they rubbed a little bit. i went with the smaller size and they are the best tires i have ever owned. amazing in the snow and silent on the highway.

Where did you have rubbing issues with the tires if I may ask? I am ok with doing so work to get them to fit.

Great tires, I love mine. Wear like iron, and are quiet, don't cause hydroplaning, and work fantastic in snow.
Only tire that came close were my Bridgestone Revos.

Tires are going on Friday afternoon. Upsizing from 235/65/17 to 255/70/17 without having a lift or spacers. Will let everyone know how the fit is and if I needed to do any modifications.

Before and After pics coming soon!!!

I can't wait to hear how they fit. I also want those tires. Maybe getting them from Christmas :)

I'm going to put on the Hankook Dynapro RF10's. My jeep is at stock ride height, trying to decide weather to go 245-70/17 or 265-65/17. Thoughts?

Why go with that size ? Just for looks ? I would get the AT's in 245/65/17, which is the stock size on the Overland. THey will handle and ride better than the 70 series, i.e. the WK is engineered / designed to use 65's. I Have had my Dest. AT's for about 18k and they work much better than the more expensive GY fortera tripletreads I replaced after less than 10k miles. The compromises of the AT compared to the GY are a bit of humming, and less capable in light snow and longer braking distances.
Deeper snow performance, ride, steering, handling are all improved over the GY as the AT's are much better matched to the WK suspension than the GY.

This is news to me. Engineered for 65's? Are you talking about gearing? Maybe something else I don't know of. I am looking for a taller tire, think the stock size is rather small. Amarkmtu, I hope I'm not jacking your thread, that this I'm following your questions as well.

I also just hit the tire shop for some new rubber. Iwent with a 255/70/17 Toyo Open Country AT and they look fantastic.

Gearing is part of it, yes. The 245/65 series tires are lower profile, i.e. shorter sidewalls which are stiffer, and they will handle, corner and brake better than the 255/70. Going from a 235/65 to a 255/70, your WK will also be slower accellerating as tires are gears, and the tall tire size will also mean speedometer reading will be a bit off.
