Re: HELP with shocks/struts

There is a suspension thread that covers all part numbers...you have a couple options. I have the hd wk bilsteins...shock absorbers in the rear and struts up front. They come with everything for a direct swap. They raise the jeep 3/8" FYI...I have a 2wd and it was one of the best mods I have ever done. Other option it srt8 bilsteins, which are more $$ but from what I have read are even better on-road. Search for "wk suspension thread" and it will come up. Hope that helps and good luck...it is def a necessary mod IMO as the stockers are crap!

Re: HELP with shocks/struts

If you are upgrading to WK bilsteins then you can order all four for around $300. The front shocks/struts come as a single unit with a shock base anf a steel spring base attached half way up. When you take the old shock/strt out it comes out as an assembly of the shock/strut and spring all in one. You simply remove the top cap of the assembly and remove the spring. Put the spring onto the new shock/strut so it sits on the base that is attached. Then put the stock upper part or trhe assembly back on and re-install. Once you see it it will make sense. I'm assuming any shock that fits the WK will have the same general design. You will have to remove the four bolt at the top of the shock tower that are located under the hood and under the fuse box on the drivers side and the coolant tank on the passenger's sibe. Their is an excellent thread on this very topic on this site in the DIY section. The rear shocks are standand shocks.

The SRT Bilsteins will fit and will not lower your Jeep....maybe level it in the rear...but they are a little pricey....about $6-700.

First we need to know what your looking for. Do you want to keep the stock height....but a better ride? Do you want to lower it/lift it? Whats your budget?

Re: HELP with shocks/struts

budget is around $400 for all 4 wheels. i would like you keep it stock height i know the bilsteins raise it 3/8 of an inch. but for $400 if i can lower it a little thats cool too. want a nice ride though

Re: HELP with shocks/struts

I was incorrect the SRT8 Bilsteins will not lower your vehicle...first post edited. I think either way you will be happy, but if you want the best on-road go with the SRT setup! Get the springs, sways and Billsteins...if you want it to be a little more versatile, get the WK Bilsteins...and the 3/8" lift is not very noticeable IMO, and with beefy tires it gives it a nice stance. I am debating right now if I want to get springs. I love the way my jeep rides and looks now, but it still feels a little top-heavy at times when driving it hard, so lowering the center of gravity would be huge. Scott switched from the WK bilsteins to the SRT8's and said it was night and day so I really need to figure out if I want to drop another $1k-1500 on suspension mods :(

$400 - WK Bilsteins are your best option

The links are from shickwharehouse.com looks like they are $340 shipped for all four. Not too bad...I think I paid $280 with a coup. Do some searching online, there are prolly some codes floating around out there
