Trailer signal lights not working

I had my dealer install a hitch on my 2011. Yesterday hooked up the trailer for the first time and the stop and running lights work but not the signal lights on the trailer. Will take back to the dealer this coming week for repairs but does anyone know what the problem might be?

not sure wk2 but the WK did require some programming in the later MYs.

Check the TSBs there is one for turn signals inoperative. plastic on the connector is somewhere it should not be. I believe all they do is scrap it off the contacts so the signals will work.

Whatevr is referring to this TSB, which applies to the left turn signal pin of the 7 way connector:

Not sure what a TSB is. But am delighted with the help you all are offering!! Great board. What exactly is a TSB? (turn signal board?)

FYI: I do not have the electronic brakes so have only the 4 contacts with the center pin.

Re: Trailer signal lights not working

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin. Alerts from Chrysler corporate to their repair centers about common problems.

If you're using the 4 pin, then the turn and brake lights are controlled by the same wire -- Green for right side and yellow for left. So if both brake lights work but turn signals do not, it must be a problem with the Jeep wiring. Time to see the dealer.

To the OP was the TSB applicable? What was the result of your dealer visit?

Whatever - The TSB only applies to the 7 pin connector, and Canyon was using the 4 pin.

Just trying to find the end result.

Re: Trailer signal lights not working

Final result: The dealer said that the computer has to be reprogramed for the trailer lights to work. For whatever reason, when they "dealer installed" the hitch, the computer didn't register the reprograming they did. He said they did it again when I took it in for the first 3,000 mile oil change and that it then tested okay. I have not hooked my trailer up yet to see for myself as I've been busy at work.

Re: Trailer signal lights not working

Trailer fuse was missing in mine. Put in fuse and all the lights came on the trailer. (under hood)
