Magnaflow 16929 installed!
I just wrapped up installing my 16929 cat-back from magnaflow. i'd post a video but magnaflows video on youtube is the same. gray overland 5.7 with this system ha.
just drove it about 30 miles, and it is already louder now than it was at first.
here are my first impressions: the sound is really nice. deep, smooth tone. no rasp, minimal interior resonance.

i was curious how the MDS would sound when it went to 4 cyl mode, and indeed it resonates a SLIGHT bit more, but hardly noticable. i was concerned about this. i had a chevy with multi displacement and the exhaust made 4cyl mode sound like crap inside.

as far as performance boost goes, it may be purely psychological, but i believe i detect a little better response on the throttle, and perhaps a little bit more low end torque. in the higher ranges it feels the same.
it sounds the best between like 2000-3500 rpm. thats where the good tone is. above that, the engine drowns it out.

all in all, i am really happy. the fit and finish is great. two resonators and then one larger can in the back. all polished. the tips are double walled with the perforated insert. it is a very "classy" sounding system.

installation took me like an hour with ramps and hand tools. would have been faster but my x-pipe was crooked and i only noticed it on the first drive. had to go back and adjust.

a solid 4.5 stars out of 5. that .5 would have been for just a LITTLE more noise.

hope this is useful to anyone considering!

AWESOME! Do you notice a difference with the X-Pipe installed?

Re: Magnaflow 16929 installed!
heres the vid from youtube...

i dont think i can do much better than that... ill try to get an interior video when i get back to my camera tho

as for the x-pipe (which is included with the system, if that was a little unclear), it's hard to pinpoint exactly what part of the system does what in terms of sound or power/torque... although from my experience with a whole lot of V8s with aftermarket exhausts the addition of the x-pipe is generally what makes the exhaust note very smooth as opposed to raspy/burbley/popping/etc.

i also fired it up without the exhaust installed (had to know what it was like) and my GOD it is LOUD like that.

if i were a little younger i would have done no mufflers at all heh.

anyway, the system comes highly recommended by me at least.

WK2O, did you look at a short header at all? I'm wondering if that would be possible to do the shorties into the stock cat converter, then do the cat backs, or if that is just nonsense.

Dude! Sweet!

If you set the cruise at 75mph or so, how much more interior noise is there from the exhaust? Does it drone at all?
