RPMs idle

On mine it is always above 1000. Is this normal with the hemi? Can you check yours...

Re: RPMs idle

Does it still idle above 1000 when in gear? Mine idles high for a few minutes over 1000 but in drive it is around 600-700 RPM's.

Mine idles about 750. But higher when first started.

It is always above 1000, in P in D with ac on or ac off. With 87 or 89 gas.

What can it be? Should I bring it in for service?

Mine (V6) idles at around 1000 rpm when first started then probably around a minute later it's down to around 500 rpm.

Just noticed:

In P it starts at 1000 and in a few seconds drops to 750.
In D (stopped) it is alwsys 500

Re: RPMs idle

I have 4.7 V8 and like I would expect it will idle a bit high, probably around 1200-1300 when first stared but then keeps around 1000 when at idle in park. The problem I am having is that when I am in drive sitting at a light it will drop down to around 500-600 then back above 1000 and then stabilize this will happen a few times in a row or not at all not really depending on temperature either b/c it has happened at normal operating temperature as well as a bit cold. Also sometimes when I'm coming to a more abrupt stop is will do the same thing. I'm thinking (hoping) its only injectors or plugs and not something serious.

the 5.7 hemi in the wk2 calls for 89. i was told at the dealership that 87 in the tank voids the warranty should you have engine problems...

were they bs-ing me?
