Rented 2011 from Alamo

My Overland is finally set to arrive on next Saturday. But too late for my Cabin trip today. 500 mile drive to the mountains. Went to Alamo expecting to rent a Chevy Equinox.... I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the 2011 WK2 sitting in the parking lot. Of course I had to rent this.

So far so good. I rented a Black Laredo base model. The drive has been really good. The V6 has done really well through the mountains in Tennessee. The cabin is very quiet. I have been getting 22 mpg... Which is great.

If I love the drive of the Laredo... I know I will be very satisfied with my fully loaded Overland.

Haha... Typing on my iPhone. No raising young horses here. Although I do like the horsepower in the V6.

22mpg through hilly Tennessee? That's really good fuel economy on a fresh engine in a heavy vehicle. Was that at higher speeds (65+) or rural speeds (45-55)? I drive I-65 through KY and TN regularly and the hills take a toll on the fuel fraction especially at 70-80mph traffic flow speed.

That was going about 75 through Nashville. Maybe a step lower around Chattanooga. No lower than 18mpg in the more hilly areas when I had to slow down to 50s

I am very surprised.

I bet the one you ordered is going to be 100 times as nice ... The rentals are usually bare bone basics in most cases.

Good to see the v6 getting good fuel economey.

Have a safe trip!

SPEED SAFE, NICK

Not that the "bare bones" 2011 Grand Cherokees are lacking; there is an awful LOT of vehicle there for ~$29,500 (base Laredo 4x4 sale prices I've seen). The first one I test drove was a base model and if I could have that with factory leather for $1000 it would be a market segment killer.

Sweet, another rental WK2

Take the time out to push it so you can see how far your overland will go when you get it :D

I just wanted to share some pictures of my Rented WK2 at my cabin. The V6 Laredo handled the mountains and the steep driveway without a problem. My friends Ford Explorer could barely make the climb. The incline was at least 60 degrees. My wife felt like we were on a roller coaster going up the driveway.

Looking forward to get my Overland next week.

Cheers!

Did you have to use 4 LO gear to go up this driveway?

LOL. From the side view shot, that driveway is 30 degrees at best.... I may have to rent a WK2 for a while just to make the wait easier....

Hey this is my story... I get to relay it how I see fit. Tomorrow at the work the driveway will be 75 degrees. Lol

Cheers!
