optimal tire pressure

What's the optimal tire pressure? I have p245 size on my 07 Grand Cherokee. The tire light went on so I checked it (around 30 psi) it says on tire max is 44 but I went to 33 in all tires and light stayed on. Now im up around 40 and light goes on and off as I drive it. It flashes when it goes on. Before it was solid on. What do I do

make sure the tires are cold when you do this though as the tires warm up during regular drive ... I set mine at 36 and no light at all ... or it can also be that your TPMS batteries are giving out happened to mine ...

Re: optimal tire pressure

If you set the pressure to 35psi and the light stays on or blinks, it's not a pressure problem. If the tire pressure lamp is flashing, usually for about 60 seconds, then there is a fault in the system. A bad tire pressure sensors is most likely the cause. You'll need a tire pressure sensor tester to find the bad one. Your local repair shop or dealer can help you with that.

I run mine at 48psi since my tires are D rated.

Make sure the spare is aired up. I had that happen to me and it was the spare.
