ADVICE!! buying a 05 JGC limited hemi - maybe

Hey guys i'm new on here and have been following the forum for a little while. me and my wife are looking into buying a jeep grand cherokee limited hemi soon. there is one listed close by for $18,500 and has only 44,000 miles. what are some things too look for and what would be a good deal for this jeep? i have cash to pay for it so i am hoping i can get it for a bit cheaper... all feedback would be great.

I would look for maint. records, dealer service records, have a 3rd party check it out etc.

Drive it and listen for front end noises, check the fluids for color etc.

I bought mine at a Jeep dealer with 28000 miles as a Chrysler Certified used vehicle. The dealer had performed the full 30000 mile scheduled maintenance. I'm at 42000 now and the only issues I've had were a leaking thermostat ($30.00 + an hour of my time), and I had to replace the battery.
The transmission cooler lines were a common failure item too, so check for leaks.
It's a first year model, so there are both good and bad examples out there. Just follow what fellow members have recommended, and you should be fine.
If you haven't driven it yet, then don't, unless you intend to buy.
Hemi + Grand Cherokee =

Never buy any used car without some form of warranty.
Mine was out of delear warranty but they offered $0 charge one year warranty.
Like mention b4 always check records and fluids and drive it. Also test drive other hemi jeep sto make sure they feel similiar

My 05 has been excellent! Some are great some have issues, drive it and check it out then take it to a trusted shop for a complete check. If your the second owner you can get Chrysler to extend the warranty to 80K.

I just picked up a completely loaded 5.7 2005 limited with 48k miles. for 18k in August. One owner, mint condition. If you buy this rig pay $150.00 to your local Jeep dealer to transfer the remainder of the 7/70 powertrain warranty.

I just bought an 06 GC Ltd Hemi a couple weeks ago. Had 39,000 miles on it and came with the remainder of the 6 year / 80,000 mile powertrain warranty. Although I didn't find anything wrong with it (aside from a dead/dying battery), I insisted on a 3 month / 3,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Good thing I did. In two weeks, here's the list - faulty passenger seat sensor (and related airbag fault), front limited slip locking 'solid' for first 20 minutes of driving, and a very pronounced shudder at 65 mph. Got it scheduled for next week at the shop. Thanking the heavens I got the b-2-b warranty.
