Why the difference in the mpg to the US? Speed Limits?

I don't know where these numbers are from but they seem to be incorrect either way.

Using this calculator:

8.9L/100 km = 26.43 MPG

Imperial Gallons = 1.2 US gallons

No...we use metric, so mileage is calculated as litres/100km. When converted to miles/gallon, it works out more because it's done as miles/imperial gallon.
Not sure why it's converted that way. Most younger drivers better understand L/100km over mpg.
I just drove to Montreal on the weekend and highway mileage in EVIC showed 13.4 L/100km. That's not great mileage. So better mileage is a lower number (reverse of yours).

I agree, 13.6 l/100km is not a great mileage for highway (except for germany ;-).

-> i just saw that you have a 5.7l Hemi, well i think for a 5.7l its not too bad.

thats weird, my EVIC showed 7.7 L/100km on my V6 on a highway trip this past weekend...oh wait, my V6 is a diesel. :)

Correction: after I posted, I checked again and in fact my highway mileage was 11.8 L/100km. I was hoping for better. However, I expect city driving to be only about 18 L/100km.

I'd bet the Canadian test cycle is not the same as the EPA test cycle in the US. Run the test differently, the results will change. For example, I'm sure the Canadian test involves putting mayo on the fries while ingesting poutine or somesuch...

The Canadian mileage tests are different from the USA tests, and are likely too optimistic for highway mileage, even taking the Imperial gallon factor (=1.2 US gallons) into account.

I think the EVIC readings should also be taken with a grain of salt. Anyone have true tank fill to tank fill mileage for 100% pure Interstate or equal highway driving by hand calculator? If so, please state your engine size.
