Squirly noise???

Hay guys my jeep started making a squirly noise today, but I had the AC on the whole time it was making that noise so I think that it might be the AC, but do you guys know what might have caused it?

I opned the hood, started it and ran the AC, but it didn't make the noise at idle.

HELP!

Re: Squirly noise???

It could be a multitude of things mate. There's HEAPS of Squirls under the hood that can make a Squirly noise. Sometime they makes the Squirly noise when the Squirls are upset or fighting eachother, but at other times, usually during long cold winters, the Squirls can actually be freezing up, and the eroneous zone capacitors can run under required operating temperature and cause what some more technically minded people would call "Squirly noises". A Squirly noise is never a good sign, for the reasons stated above, and I would strongly suggest you keep a safe distance from the Jeep when the Squirly sounds are coming from it, and definately do not open the hood while Squirling. The Squirls can and WILL bite!
Someone else may like to jump in here, maybe someone with more Squirl experience (they're not common here in Australia), but I reckon consult the yellow Pages and find a Squirl expert.

Ok fine you guys, I guess it's more of a loose belt rubbing something. IDK

Re: Squirly noise???

its the accessory belt or one of the tensioners-probably the one on the ac unit

Re: Squirly noise???

I'll run it tomorrow without the AC and see if it makes any noise.

Re: Squirly noise???

dylan, it might just be 'worse' with the a/c off. to get the belt on/off there is whats called an idler pulley. maybe the one in you top pic, its blurry so i cant tell. buit anyway, one of them is like on a spring and moves, these are known to wear out.

i would suggest you go to some repair place, like brakes plus, they do belts cheap and all the time, they should be able to show you what is wrong.

if the belt blows off, you cant get too far. so get it checked out.
