Towing with Overland V8.

Who's done it? Does the WK2 have accommodations for a trailer brake controller? I noticed the 7 pin plug on the tow package...

Are you saying an Overland cannot tow?

The Overland's can tow, both V6 and V8, with different limits. Apparently the 7 pin connector is what you will use for the braking feature.

^This. On any model, if you have a 7 pin, tow hitch, and then add a brake controller under the driver dash (below part), you'll be good to go for towing a trailer with brakes.

If you're towing a single-axle trailer with no brakes, then you won't need the above part, your trailer harness will then likely attach to the 4 pin which gives you turn signal/brake/turn lights.

Draw-Tite Brake Controller for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2011 is the one I had installed. Works great so far.

Code: 5500

Do the controllers shown plug into the Jeep's wiring harness? .....or do you need to install via wire terminals?

I have an old cheapie controller now.....I could take it along....but if I can get a plug and play controller (on both ends) it may be time to upgrade.

Anyone tried one of the cushioned ball mounts for towing? Never needed one for use on the truck you don't get a lot of noise because it's so far behind the cab. But I am considering for the jeep, especially my commander because you hear every little bit of play in that hitch when towing anything.

Check out etrailer.com's self help section. It's pretty extensive, and covers most every part install and most vehicles.
