Tow hook install
hey guys i just received my new stock tow hooks from Mopar and the instructions look a bit exhausting. Anyone ever install a set of stock tow hooks on their Jeep WK 05-10??

Looks like i need to remove the bumper and one piece behind that, probably easier than it looks on paper but if anyone has done this and come across anything crazy let me know, thanks!

Re: Tow hook install
its very easy, just remove the bumper to access the area. the instructions make it look worse than it is.

Re: Tow hook install
awesome, thats exactly what i wanted to hear... also, there are some weird looking tools in the picture, whats up with that?

Re: Tow hook install
the first is a tool for removing the trim, the third is a torque wrench and the forth is a plastic rivet setter.

Re: Tow hook install
it's easy for the most part. I just had a couple issues with one or two bolts.

Plastic rivet setter? Do you need one for the install or is it a cosmetic thing?

Re: Tow hook install
its a good tool to have if you are going to be removing the exterior panels on modern vehicles. they are like $15 at harbor freight with a bunch of included rivets. it is needed to reinstall the bumper cover

Re: Tow hook install
hmmm then i'll def have to pick up one of those tools... rivets seem to break and bend easily

Re: Tow hook install
yea, I tried to do it w/o the rivet tool and its mainly for where the bumper meets the black plastic in the wheel well. You CAN do it w/o the tool but the rivets won't be as tight as they should be. It was a temporary solution for me til I can get the tool. I'm just too impatient to have had the shackle mount sitting around til I ordered and recieved the tool. No where around me had it. I can't remember how long it took, not too long though.

Re: Tow hook install
I used a small wrench and some vicegrips instead of the tool. Worked just fine.
