Sparkles on darker colors...any thoughts?

I will be buying an overland in the next 6 months or so and have been trying to check out all of the colors while I wait. I have seen people mention how the colors look different depending on the lighting. I loved the Dark Charcoal Pearl until I noticed the sparkles/ glitter look, it reminds me of a bass boat. I then noticed it on the Blackberry Pearl as well and am now just considering going with White. Does anyone feel the same way and do you think the 2012 lineup will add any other colors?

Anytime you see the word pearl it is a metallic ("glitter") paint. The only color that doesn't have this is the white.

I like the metallic. Other than the red and Blackberry, the color selection is a bit drab and the metallic adds something to the JGC that helps show the depth of its shape. Even the otherwise ubiquitous silver works really well on the JGC (more metallic than other silvers?). I'm not sure about the general public, but I like seeing some bolder splashes of color so I can feel like it's the 60s again...but that's just one old codger's opinion.:D

I guess what you mean is that you don't like metallic. All I can say is that I LOVE my WK2 in Dark Charcoal/Black Leather combo.

The Charcoal is the shizzle for the dark colors, IMHO. I didn't mean to sound derogatory about the darker colors saying they're "drab". Joe your pics of your new Charcoal drive me nutty trying to decide as I like all the colors but for red (cop magnet) and green (too light a green for me).

Joe, I am not a huge fan on first look, hopefully the Charcoal will grow on me. I was just interested to hear other people’s thoughts on this. I think my flavor of the week is curently White with Saddle (depending on how that turns out). Im gald you are enjoying yours!

Trust me, it looks even better "in person" :D

OP, below link from Nbtstatic has the some of the best WK2 photos we have seen, with detail on the metallic Charcoal.

Definitely get an eyeball on all of the colors day and night, sunlight and otherwise. I understand the bass boat comment which to me looks more like sequines, the Jeep metallic sparkles aren't nearly that large or loud.

I too wirsh the colour pallete was a little broader.
Some nice vivid blues and reds would really make the new Jeep look great!

Metal flake in paint has been popular since, well....nearly forever! I think it looks great and I'd avoid buying any non-metallic color. In my opinion, even black looks better with metal flake in it. The extra sparkle really makes it glisten in the sun.

I love the Blackberry. In dim or shaded light it can look Black, without even a hint of Blue. But when the light reflects and catches the pearl coat... Ahhh...
