5k fogs and 5k lows

hey guys i have the oem projectors and i put in 5k bulbs and i added 5k fogs.
the question is why is the fogs such a pure white and the lows have a slight blue. I hear the the ballast turn on for the fogs when the fogs are on... the lights are from Xexondepot..

Could possibly be because the low beams are in a projector, and fog lights are non projector.

Did you make sure they were both 5000K on the actual bulb itself??

Xenondepot is pretty good on matching bulbs. Thats all I can think of

its funny how i saw this thread today, when i was talking to XenonDepot last night. See email below.

I finally received and installed the parts this weekend. finally, the buzzing & static is gone. im so glad i reached out to you for this info.

my only concern that after these bulbs are on for a while, they steer a little to the yellow side. when i first turn them on, on a frosty 38 degree morning in NY, they are as blue as my headlights. but after a while, usually at night when they are on all the time, the headlight give off more of a blue tint than the fog lights, the headlights being stock 4300s. any ideas? i havent tried installing the other bulbs on your ballasts, but i think i might, just to see what color they show.

i am ultimately looking for a blue tint, but not as blue as the 8ks. i think the 6ks might be too blue also

Hello,

Steve is attending the SEMA show this week and will be out of the office. My name is Mike and I can definitely answer your questions for you.

What you are describing is actually 100% normal. HID’s have a warm up period – they will start off with an intense white/blue color and then fade off into a warm white. Also, if your vehicle has factory HID’s in the headlights they will look different thank your fogs because they use a Projector headlight which will alter the look of the HID’s.

8000 and 6000k will definitely be pretty intense blue output. I would recommend 5000k – they will have a very crisp, white color output and will also give you a hint of blue.

Thanks,
Mike

I wouldn't call my HID at 6000K giving out an "intense blue" You can tell that there is blue there but you can also tell that its a lot more white than blue. IMO

Re: 5k fogs and 5k lows

thats what i was going to ask, actually, if my 5000ks are white, without a hint of blue when fully warm, the 6000ks must have a hint of blue when fully warm. i may ask to exchange them.

can you post a pic of your 6000ks?

Re: 5k fogs and 5k lows

Pics does nothing. It would show up as dark blue or plain white due to the way camera takes the picture. Your best bet is to see a car with 6000K in them in person.

But if you still want to see them;

Re: 5k fogs and 5k lows

my avatar pic and the one below is 6K lows/fogs...as you can see my lows are more on the "whiter" side, while my fogs retain the blue hue even after being warmed up...so I guess mine is the opposite of the OP's
