No a/c

Well my Jeep just stopped blowing out cold air. I push the a/c button and it comes out hot.

What is the checklist I should do first before taking to mechanic?

The clutch turns on when I hit the a/c switch.

The areas of vents blowing moves around with the knob.

What could this be?

Re: No a/c
look for posts for the WK talking about some kind of blower resistor. it lives behind the glove compartment. this MIGHT be the issue.

I will check....But it does blow air. I can also hear the doors moving inside I think, when I go from hot to cold and move around areas to vent air.

Re: No a/c
ok i think the resistor was more for only blowing like full last and NO low speeds at all.

i dont think its a fuse as it sounds like electrically everything is working.

the little orange light is staying lit after you hit the AC button I assume?

i might start to think freon. if everything comes on, fans blow, etc, yet still warm then perhaps there isnt any freon in the sytem?

Orange light stays on.

After reading and searching could this be a bad tempeture knob? I will try to tap or wiggle later today.

It just stopped working one day.

Sounds like a leak to me, mine did the same thing.

Leak where?

What did you replace?

I had a pin hole in my filter drier which wasn't covered by warranty. You could have a leak any where if thats what it is. Just sounds like the same sorta situation.

Re: No a/c
The knob that moves around the vents from top to bottom etc, is working. I took off the glove door and can see the sproket wheel move around and redirect air.

The fan speed knob works also since it goes from slow to fast.

The a/c button turns on and off also.

It might be the tempeture knob though. I cant tell if it does anything. I tapped it and nothing still hot air.

Any more ideas?

Re: No a/c
You might have to get the system recharged... or you could take out the AC system and convert it to OBA... but that's not recommended :D

Re: No a/c
See if it needs to be recharged
